As the Sheriff

  • While you are protected by your deputy, you are the target for most. Enjoy the spotlight when you can!
  • The first thing you want to do at the start is to build defenses. A barrel, a mustang, or even missed and bangs are useful.
  • The second thing you want to do is to test loyalities. Banging the next player is often useful. This is because he will immediately has another turn to prove their loyality, by either shooting you or others. Besides, targeting the last player is worse since he might be killed before he even have a turn.
  • After some loyality testing, it is better to be sure before killing another player. You don't want to kill your deputy. Instead you may watch them fight against each other and decide afterwards. If you are not 100% certain you can still target others, but don't deal the last blow.

As the Deputy

  • Never, ever shoot the sheriff! Mass damage is still ok, but a bang to the sheriff is your death sentence. You will probably be mistaken as outlaw and shot to death afterwards.
  • Try to weaken outlaws, but don't kill them unless the sheriff is far away. That way, the sheriff can pick up the bonus.
  • Kill everyone except the sheriff. Most of the time, all other non-sheriff players are your enemies. Killing them will leave the sheriff in a better position, even that costs your death.

As the Outlaw

  • Don't target the sheriff immediately. The sheriff will immediately send you to the graveyard before you can utter a word.
  • Instead, pretend as a deputy to increase the chances of sheriff killing the deputy.
  • Meanwhile, try to find your allies and kill those pesky deputies and renegades.
  • Afterwards when the sheriff gets weak (1 to 2 life points), you can start targeting the sheriff and win the game.

As the Renegade

  • Oh my god, you are the renegade! This is the most difficult but interesting character to play, as everyone else may want you dead.
  • Confusion is your ally. Try to shoot people who look like deputies. That way, both sides will not be sure who you are. Use all your lying and bluffing skills.
  • Save some gatlings and indians, as well as build up a defense. You don't want to get too many holes.
  • If you are near to the sheriff, shoot in the other direction. Try to kill at least one outlaw or you will expose yourself.
  • If you are far to the sheriff, shoot like an outlaw until you reach next to the sheriff. Then claim to be the deputy and shoot the other way.
  • The only chance of you winning is that you weaken both sides at the same time. If the deputy is dead, aid the sheriff. If there is only one outlaw alive, side with him. The most possible situation for you to win is when there are you, the sheriff and an outlaw alive.
