==As the Deputy==
* Never, ever shoot the sheriff! Mass damage is still ok, but a bang to the sheriff is your death sentence. You will probably be mistaken as outlaw and shot to death afterwards.
* Your main target is to help the sheriff, so watch out for anybody that attacks him. Most of the time (playing with 6 and fewer players) all other players are your enemies.
* Try to weaken outlaws, but don't kill them unless the sheriff is far away. That way, the sheriff can pick up the bonus.
* Never, ever do any harm to the sheriff! Mass damage cards (Gatling, Indians) are ok, but any Bang, Panic or Cat Balou is the opposite of helping the sheriff.
* Kill everyone except the sheriff. Most of the time, all other non-sheriff players are your enemies. Killing them will leave the sheriff in a better position, even that costs your death.
* Try to weaken outlaws and leave them for the sheriff to finish them, if he has a gun with enough range. That way the sheriff can collect the bonus for killing an outlaw. Otherwise end them yourself.

==As the Outlaw==
==As the Renegade==
* Don't target the sheriff immediately. The sheriff will immediately send you to the graveyard before you can utter a word.
* Your main target is to be the last player against the sheriff and killing him. This is the most difficult, but the most fun in my opinoin role to play as.
* Instead, pretend as a deputy to increase the chances of sheriff killing the deputy.
* Renegade should try to keep balance between the outlaw team and the sheriff's team. You want outlaws to live long enough to do harm to the sheriff, but at the same time you want deputies to get rid of outlaws.
* Meanwhile, try to find your allies and kill those pesky deputies and renegades.
* If there is more players in the outlaw team, play as a deputy and attack an outlaw. If there is more players in the sheriff's team or teams are balanced, attack a deputy.
* Afterwards when the sheriff gets weak (1 to 2 life points), you can start targeting the sheriff and win the game.
* Confusion can be your ally. However if you play the entire time as a deputy and you end up against a sheriff and a deputy (sheriff doesn't know who is who), your chances to win are usually very small, since you have to first kill the deputy which is attacking you back and then, usually barely surviving, you have to kill the sheriff which had the entire time to build his defenses.

==As the Renegade==
==General==
* Oh my god, you are the renegade! This is the most difficult but interesting character to play, as everyone else may want you dead.
* When you get Stagecoach and Wells Fargo in your hand, use them before you start doing anything else. Drawing a good card from Wells Fargo can change your strategy.
* Confusion is your ally. Try to shoot people who look like deputies. That way, both sides will not be sure who you are. Use all your lying and bluffing skills.
* It is better to pick one player to target with constant attacks until he is dead rather than always shooting once one player and another time another. It gives your targets time to recover with beers.
* Save some gatlings and indians, as well as build up a defense. You don't want to get too many holes.

* If you are near to the sheriff, shoot in the other direction. Try to kill at least one outlaw or you will expose yourself.
* If you are far to the sheriff, shoot like an outlaw until you reach next to the sheriff. Then claim to be the deputy and shoot the other way.
* The only chance of you winning is that you weaken both sides at the same time. If the deputy is dead, aid the sheriff. If there is only one outlaw alive, side with him. The most possible situation for you to win is when there are you, the sheriff and an outlaw alive.
