Overview
You have 12 rounds to create the best Metro line in Paris or Rome. Each round, reveal a Metro Ticket card to determine the route shape you must plot. Pick up passengers, take them to their destinations, and gain as many victory points as possible.
Gameplay
You start the game with a personal objective card and a chosen departure position on the map.
A game consists of 12 rounds, each following 4 phases:
- New Metro Ticket: The Inspector reveals a ticket. All players cross the matching value on their sheet to see their required route shape (Straight, 1 Turn, or 2 Turns).
- Plot Route: Starting with the Inspector, players place markers on the board.
- Your route must begin where it ended the previous round.
- You must use the exact number of markers and turns indicated for that ticket on your sheet.
- You can never double back on the same section.
- Elimination: If your route reaches an intersection you have already passed through, you are immediately eliminated from the game.
- Check Common Objectives: See if any players fulfilled a common goal this round.
- Change Inspector: Pass the Inspector pawn clockwise.
Intersection Symbols
Metro Entrance (M)
For each Metro Entrance you reach, circle one "M" on your sheet. At the end of any round, you may cross off a circled "M" to place one extra marker to extend your route. Each unused circled "M" is worth 2 victory points at the end.
Grannies
Whenever you reach a Granny symbol, cross off the topmost available space in the corresponding zone. You score the points shown next to the crossed-off spaces at the end.
Students and Cinemas
Reaching a Student or a Cinema allows you to cross off the matching space on your sheet. At the end of the game, multiply your total Students by your total Cinemas to determine your score for this category.
Couples / Tourists and Destinations
When you reach a Couple (light or dark background) or a Tourist, cross the matching space in your topmost Unresolved row. When your route reaches a matching Destination (Restaurant/Café for Couples; Theater/Opera for Tourists), you immediately score that row.
- Score points based on the number of passengers in that row as indicated on your sheet.
- Scribble out any remaining passenger spaces in that row; it is now "Resolved".
- Unresolved rows at the end of the game are worth only half points.
Straights and Turns
If a ticket's shape is not optimal, you may change a turn into a straight line or vice-versa by crossing off a space in your Turn zone (red background). You can do this up to 5 times per game, but these spaces will count as negative points at the end.
Connections (Traffic)
You may use route sections already occupied by other players. However, for every marker already on that section, you must cross off one circle in your Connections zone.
- Rome Map: Burgundy and yellow sections are "speedy routes." Each time you pass through one, cross off 1 extra circle in the Connections zone.
Objectives
- Common Objectives: The first player(s) to complete a yellow objective score 10 points. Subsequent players completing that objective (now blue side up) score 6 points.
- Personal Objectives: Connect the 3 specific intersections shown on your card to score up to 10 bonus points.
Game End
The game ends after 12 rounds. Total your points from passengers, resolved/unresolved rows, objectives, and connection bonuses, while subtracting penalties from your Turn zone. The player with the highest score wins.
