Game Overview
Chaos erupts in the neighborhood as the local animals clash in Bag & Snatch: Backyard Brawl. Thematically, you dive into the fray to round up as many critters as possible to bolster your presence in the yard. Mechanically, you use action cards to snatch animal tokens from the central supply while carefully guarding your own collection against the greedy hands of your rivals.
Goal of the Game
The goal is to accumulate the most points by collecting and holding onto animal tokens. The player with the highest total score at the end of the brawl is crowned the winner.
Gameplay
Preparation
- The game is designed for 1 to 5 players.
- Place all animal tokens in the center of the table to form the supply. There are 4 unique types of animals.
- Each player is dealt a starting hand of action cards.
A Turn
Each turn follows two distinct phases:
- Scoring (Start of Turn): You earn points based on the number of tokens you currently hold for one specific animal type.
- Action: Play cards to snatch animal tokens from the center or to disrupt your opponents' collections.
The "Snatch" Mechanism
This is the core mechanic of the game:
- If a player takes the very last token of a specific animal type from the central supply, a "Snatch" occurs.
- At that moment, all other players must return their matching tokens of that animal type to the center. Only the player who emptied the supply gets to keep their tokens of that type.
Animals & Strategy
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| 4 Animal Types | Each animal comes with a unique ability that can be used to disrupt opponents. |
| Risk Management | Hoarding too many tokens of one type is risky, as a "Snatch" can wipe out your progress. |
| Diversification | Balancing different types of animals helps mitigate the danger of losing your entire stash. |
Game End & Scoring
- A typical game lasts approximately 15 minutes.
- The game ends after a set number of rounds or when specific deck conditions are met.
- The player with the highest cumulative score from their turns wins.
