Game Overview

¿Cuántos Tacos? is a fast-paced dice-and-write game where players compete to collect matching ingredient dice to complete various taco recipes.

Goal of the Game

The goal is to earn the most points after a set number of rounds by completing taco cards and utilizing bonus actions.

Gameplay

The number of rounds is determined by the player count: 7 rounds (2 players), 5 rounds (3–4 players), or 3 rounds (5–6 players).

A Player's Turn

The active player performs the following steps:

  • Roll Dice: Roll all 6 ingredient dice.
  • Collect & Reroll: The active player sets aside dice that match their taco cards and may reroll the remaining dice as many times as desired.
  • Wild Symbols: The wild sides on the protein and sauce dice can represent any ingredient.
  • Mark Ingredients: Once the active player stops rolling, all players use the final result. Each player marks matching ingredients on their 2 active taco cards. Each die can only be used once per turn.
  • End of Turn: The dice are passed clockwise. Once every player has been the active player, the round ends and the round tracker is advanced.

Completing Recipes

  • When all ingredients on a card are marked, the recipe is complete.
  • The card is set aside, and at the end of the turn, the player draws a new card from the deck or the "Kitchen" (face-up display).

Special Rules

  • Two Wilds: If both wild symbols are rolled in a single turn, the active player immediately draws and starts an additional taco card.
  • Three of a Kind: If 3 identical ingredients are rolled, the player to the right of the active player may steal one of the active player's uncompleted cards. The active player immediately draws a replacement.
  • Bonus Ingredients: Some cards feature symbols in the corner that grant extra points at the end of the game for every completed recipe containing that symbol.

Bonus Actions

Each player has a bonus action card with 4 actions, each usable only 1 time per game:

Action Effect
Reroll Reroll any number of dice.
Lock 1 Die Lock one die during another player's turn for your own use.
Discard Discard an uncompleted card without receiving a point penalty.
Block Prevent another player from using a bonus action.

End of Game & Scoring

After the final round, points are calculated as follows:

  • Positive Points: Values of completed taco cards (top left corner).
  • Bonus Points: 5 points for each unused bonus action (up to 20 points). Additional points from bonus ingredient symbols.
  • Negative Points: The point value of any started but uncompleted taco card is subtracted from the total. (Cards not yet started count as 0 points).
  • Tie-breaker: In case of a tie, the player with the most marked sauce ingredients wins.
