Objective

In Seashells, players collect various shells along the shoreline to trade them for valuable Prestige cards. The player with the highest total Prestige from cards and remaining shells at the end of the game wins.

Gameplay Overview

A turn consists of three main steps:

  1. Pick a Shell: Select a shell from the row closest to the players (the "shore" end).
  2. Sow Shells: Take the chosen shell and any shells currently in your hand. Place them one by one back onto the beach spaces, starting from where you picked the shell and moving toward the ocean.
    • You must drop exactly one shell on each space you pass.
    • The very last shell you drop determines your action.
  3. Perform Action: The type of the last shell placed triggers a specific ability.

Shell Actions

The last shell placed (the "Action Shell") allows for the following:

  • Sea Star: Collect any one shell from a space of your choice.
  • Moon Snail: Swap the positions of any two shell stacks on the beach.
  • Cockle: Collect all shells of a specific type from an adjacent space.
  • Scallop: Move one shell from any space to any other space on the board.
  • Sand Dollar: These act as wildcards and can represent any shell type when purchasing cards.

Purchasing Cards

If you have the exact combination of shells in your personal supply required by a face-up Prestige card, you may claim it.

  • Claimed cards grant Prestige points and sometimes ongoing or immediate bonuses.
  • You can purchase multiple cards in a single turn as long as you have the required shells.

Game End

The game ends when a specific number of Prestige cards have been claimed or the shell supply is exhausted.

  • Scoring: Total the points on your Prestige cards.
  • Remaining shells in your inventory also provide a small point bonus (typically 1 point per 3 shells).
