Objective
The goal of Flockers is to fly your flock the furthest south. Players build a formation of geese to navigate across terrain cards that form the flight path.
Gameplay Overview
Players take turns in clockwise order. Each turn consists of two steps:
- Add a goose to your flock: Place a card from your hand into your formation.
- Replenish your hand: Draw back up to 5 cards from the face-up display or the deck.
Flock Formation
The platform automatically manages the placement, but these are the structural rules:
- Lead Bird: The first card played becomes the Lead Bird (the head of the V).
- V-Formation: All subsequent geese are placed to the right of the Lead Bird in either a top row or a bottom row.
- Size Limit: A flock can have a maximum of 7 geese (1 Lead Bird + 3 in the top row + 3 in the bottom row).
- End of Flight: Your game ends if your flock reaches 7 birds or your token reaches the 10th terrain card.
Main Actions
When adding a goose, you can perform the action shown in the top-left corner:
- Fly: Move forward on the flight path. Starting from the Lead Bird, check the geese in either the top OR bottom row. If a goose's terrain icon matches the next space on the path, you move forward. You continue as long as the icons in your row (read left to right) match the upcoming terrain.
- Navigate: Choose one of the three face-up terrain cards and add it to the end of the flight path to extend the map.
- Graze: Remove any one card from your flock. Additionally, you may remove any cards featuring the "graze" icon. The formation automatically closes gaps. This is essential to keep the flock small and flexible.
- Swap: Switch the positions of any two cards already in your flock.
- Lead: Re-activate the main action and/or the bonus of your current Lead Bird.
Bonuses & Goose Types
- Identify: You gain a bonus action if you have the required number or type of geese (e.g., Juveniles) in your flock.
- Bonus Terrain: Extra terrain icons on cards only count during a "Fly" action if the specific goose type requirements are met.
Encounters
Landing on a symbol triggers an immediate effect:
- Decoy: Your flock is shuffled and redeployed in a random order.
- North Wind: Move immediately to any space on the next terrain card.
- Fox: One goose is removed from your flock.
- Bald Eagle: All Juvenile geese are removed from your flock.
Winning the Game
The game ends for everyone once a player reaches or passes the 10th terrain card.
- Winner: The player whose token is furthest south (furthest along the path) wins.
- Ties: In case of a tie, the player with the largest flock wins; if still tied, the player with the most geese of a single type wins.
