Be fast and score as many points as you can. Or be slow and try to aim for the higher points.

Each turn you have max 3 cards to discard for 1 card to score. It is ideal if you can get a score of 5 in one turn, but it is not always possible. If you wait for two turns beware of other changes on the board that can make scoring more difficult. But sometimes you can score a pattern on the way to score another. You may need to discard lower scoring patterns to obtaining one pattern for a score of 3 or 2, so calculate first and don't quickly go for the immediate score. Aim for at least a score of 2 per turn.

Pay attention to the extra 3 points for whoever scores the most 1s - it can determine the winning score.
