Be fast and score as many points as you can. Or be slow and try to aim for the higher points.

Each turn you have max 3 cards to discard for 1 card to score. An average score would be 2 per turn. You may need to discard lower scoring patterns to get a higher score, so calculate first and don't quickly go for the immediate score. A pattern that takes more than the 3 discards is risky because changes on the board may cause more required moves later, but it can be good to save higher points or easy 1s. Sometimes you can score a pattern on the way to score another.

Pay attention to the extra 3 points for whoever scores the most 1s - it can determine the winning score. Remember it takes scoring only 7-10 cards to trigger the final round.
