Game Overview

In Bohemians, you take on the role of an artist in 19th-century Paris. You strive to gather inspiration and create masterpieces while struggling against all different hardships.

Objective: Each round gather as much inspiration as possible to buy a specific amount of achievement cards quicker than your opponents.

Game Flow

The game is played over several rounds, each consisting of three phases:

1. Wake up phase

  • Draw cards: Each player draws cards from their deck (standard: 5 cards).
  • Plan your routine: Arrange your cards in a row. Matching symbols give you inspiration and some cards can give special effects.

2. Day phase

Players execute their actions in turn:

  • Narrate your day: Based on the cards you play, you can tell a story about what happened in your day. This has no effect on gameplay, it's just for the theme.
  • Count your inspiration: Gain inspiration from:
    • – Matching symbols,
    • – Muses,
    • – Other special cards.
  • Spend inspiration: Use inspiration to purchase:
    • – Habit cards from the display,
    • – Muse cards from the display,
    • – Achievement card (once per round),
    • – Move unspent inspiration points into Atelier for other effects.
  • Dues of the day: Gain Hardship card if you haven't played your Job tile.

3. Sleep phase

  • Clean up the board: Put all cards you played into discard pile and the Job tile aside.
  • Pass the first player token
  • Refresh the market: New first player may remove one Market card and replace it with a new one.
