“Alea iacta est” (The die is cast) – 3 dice, 216 possible combinations. The game combines classic dice-rolling luck with strategic hand management by fulfilling objective cards.
Game Components
- 70 Objective cards
- 30 Help cards / Hand cards
- 3 Dice
Object of the Game
Players attempt to fulfill the requirements of the face-up objective cards through clever rolling of the three dice. The player with the most victory points (Puntos de Victoria) from collected cards at the end of the game wins.
Gameplay
A player on their turn performs the following steps:
1. Roll Dice & Form Combinations
- The player rolls all 3 dice.
- A maximum of 2 rolls is available per turn (an initial roll and an optional re-roll).
- After the first roll, the player chooses which dice to keep and which to re-roll for the second roll.
2. Use Help Cards (Optional)
- During their turn, the player can play help cards from their hand to strategically manipulate the dice results or the requirements.
- Help cards can, for example, modify values, grant additional rolls, or simplify assignments.
3. Check and Claim Objectives
The final rolled result (combination of the 3 dice) is compared with the face-up objective cards in the display. The objective cards are divided into different categories:
- Orange Objectives (Sums): Require the total sum of the dice to match an exact value (sometimes in combination with a specific individual value).
- Green Objectives (Combinations): Require specific patterns, such as at least two dice showing the same value (a pair / double) or consecutive numbers.
To claim a card, the dice must match the requirements of the card exactly (e.g., Die 1 + Die 2 = Value X, Die 3 = Value Y).
4. Scoring & Bonuses
If an objective is successfully fulfilled, the player claims the card and the victory points depicted on it. Depending on *how* the objective was achieved, different rewards are granted:
- Perfect Success (First roll & without help):
- If the objective is fulfilled directly on the first roll and completely without using any help cards, the player receives the full victory points of the card plus an additional bonus of their choice:
- Option A: Additional bonus points.
- Option B: Draw a new help card from the draw pile and add it to their hand.
- Standard Success:
- If the objective is fulfilled only after the second roll or by using one or more help cards, the player receives only the regular victory points of the objective card (no additional bonus).
5. End of Turn
- Used help cards are placed in the discard pile.
- The face-up display of objective cards is immediately replenished from the draw pile.
- The dice are passed to the next player clockwise.
End of the Game
The game ends as soon as a specific condition defined in the rulebook is met (typically when the objective card pile is exhausted or when a player has collected a set number of objective cards).
The final scoring follows: Players add up all victory points on their collected objective cards (as well as any bonus points). The player with the highest total score wins the game.
Solo Variant: AI Challenge
The solo variant simulates a virtual opponent (the AI) that operates without dice or help cards, but snatches cards away from the player.
The regular turn of the player is always followed by an automatic AI turn:
The AI Turn
- The AI does not roll. Each round, it automatically steals the most valuable face-up objective card (highest victory points) from the center of the table and adds it to its scoring pile.
- The display is immediately replenished afterward.
Penalty for Failed Attempts
- If the player fails to fulfill an objective card during their turn, the AI immediately receives an additional card from the current display as a penalty.
End of the Game & Scoring
The game ends as soon as 100 points are reached. If the own score is higher than the AI's, the match is won. In the event of a tie, the multiplayer rules apply.
