Objective

Build the most prosperous Irish county by strategically placing landscape tiles. Players earn points through territory expansion, resource management, and various bonuses. The player with the highest total score after 12 rounds wins.

Components & Key Terms

  • Landscape Tiles: Feature various symbols, including sheep, ruins, distilleries, bogs, and meadows.
  • The Wheel: Determines which of the five offer stacks players must choose from each round.
  • Bonus Tiles: Special rewards earned by connecting at least two bog symbols.

Gameplay

The game lasts 12 rounds (reduced to 10 rounds in a 5-player game). Each round consists of two main steps:

  1. Drafting Tiles: The active player spins the wheel. The pointer indicates the specific stack from which all players must select their tile.
  2. Placing Tiles: The selected tile must be placed adjacent to the starting space or a previously placed tile.

Symbol Resolutions

  • Distilleries: When a distillery is placed adjacent to a grain field (or vice versa), you produce whiskey and advance your barrel one step on the track. This progress can also grant you additional sheep.
  • Ruins: Creating a row of three ruins allows you to activate bonus "filler" tiles during end-game scoring.
  • Sheep: Sheep form flocks. Only your largest continuous flock will score points at the end of the game.
  • Bogs: Placing at least two bogs adjacently creates a "Protected Area," awarding you a bonus tile.

End of Game & Scoring

After the final round, players calculate their scores based on the following:

  • Meadows: Score your largest rectangular, gapless area of meadow fields (Length x Width).
  • Sheep: 1 point per sheep in your largest continuous flock. The player with the overall largest flock receives a +5 point bonus.
  • Exploration: A 5-point bonus is awarded if you entirely surround your starting castle tile.
  • Whiskey: Points are awarded based on your barrel’s final position on the whiskey scale.
  • Stone Circles: Each stone circle scores between 1 and 4 points.

The player with the highest total score is declared the winner.
