Tips nature
The goal of Nature is to grow your population, so that should be your primary focus every round. You will get 1 point for each population you keep alive for the round. If you’re ever unsure about what to do, it’s usually best to increase the population of one of your species.
Each increase in population is an increase in risk, so make sure you have a plan for feeding and protect all of your population.
Feeding is relatively straightforward. There are 5 ways to eat; - Foraging - Hunting - Tusked trait - Opportunistic trait - Scavenging trait
Additionally, you can discard a card to add plants to the watering hole.
Your goal should be to get about 1.5 points per card, so discarding a card to get 4 food is not a bad option. Remember to time your discards to trigger Tusked or Opportunistic on your species.
Hunting is risky, but it can be the cheapest way to get food. If everyone has hidden cards, it’s often smart to have a backup plan of eating your own species when you become a hunter. You’d prefer to hunt another player’s species, but eating your own species of size 2+ is better than starving.
Your best defense is a facedown card, so don’t use up all 3 slots too early. If possible, only play 1 trait per species each turn.
if you are the last person in the round and no one has a hunter, don’t waste your actions with protective traits. It’s better to leave them in your hand so they can be played as a facedown protective trait on the next turn.
