OBJECTIVE
Be the first player to collect 3 Relics.
GAMEPLAY
The game is played in simultaneous rounds. In each round, every player interacts with both their left and right neighbor.
1. Choose Cards
Select two cards from your hand. Place one card face-down towards your left neighbor and one face-down towards your right neighbor.
2. Reveal and Resolve
All players reveal their cards simultaneously. Compare your card with the card your respective neighbor played against you. Interactions follow a hierarchy:
- Raider (Sword ⚔️): Steals turnips from a neighbor who played a Farmer or a Merchant.
- Wall (Shield 🛡️): Blocks a Raider. If you successfully defend against a Raider, you receive bonus turnips from the bank.
- Farmer (Rake): Produces turnips directly from the bank, provided they are not robbed by a Raider.
- Merchant (Bag 💰): Allows you to spend collected turnips to buy Market Cards or a Relic.
3. Clean-up
Return all played cards to your hand. Any acquired Market Cards are added to your hand.
ACQUIRING RELICS
To buy a Relic, you must play a Merchant and pay the cost in turnips.
- The costs for Relics are shown on your Village Board.
- Each subsequent Relic is more expensive than the previous one.
END OF GAME
As soon as a player possesses their third Relic, the game ends immediately and that player wins.
MARKET CARDS
Market Cards are upgraded versions of basic cards or possess unique special effects. They become a permanent part of your hand.
Acquiring Market Cards
- To buy a Market Card, you must play a Merchant (💰).
- The turnip cost is listed in the top corner of the Market Card.
- Purchased cards go directly into your hand and can be used in the next round.
- The market display is immediately refilled from the draw pile.
Card Types and Symbols
Most Market Cards belong to one of the four basic categories but are more powerful:
- Upgraded Farmers: Produce more turnips than the standard card.
- Upgraded Raiders (⚔️): Steal more turnips or have additional effects upon success.
- Upgraded Walls (🛡️): Grant higher bonuses from the bank when blocking a Raider.
- Upgraded Merchants (💰): Allow the purchase of cards or Relics at reduced costs or offer protection while trading.
Special Abilities
Many Market Cards have text effects triggered under specific conditions:
- "Against [Symbol]": The effect only occurs if your direct neighbor played the corresponding symbol.
- "Victory / Success": The ability is only activated if the card successfully performs its primary function (e.g., a Raider who actually steals turnips).
- "Loss / Failed": Occurs if the card was blocked or its condition was not met (e.g., a Farmer who was robbed by a Raider).
- Permanent Effects: Some cards (often marked with a laurel wreath) grant bonuses as long as they are in your hand or when they are resolved at the end of the round.
Hand Limit
There is no limit to the number of Market Cards a player can own. Since all played cards return to your hand at the end of the round, your repertoire of actions grows steadily throughout the game.
