Game Overview
As rival gangs of cats in 19th-century Ireland, you engage in a wild chase across a sprawling urban territory. You attempt to be the first to guide your agile cats into the safe mouse holes at the opposite end of the board while knocking opponents out of your way. This is achieved through a classic movement game where a die determines how far your cats can pounce.
Goal of the Game
The goal is to be the first player to move exactly 2 of your cats into the two designated mouse goal squares located at the opposite end of the board.
Gameplay
The game is played on a large board of 14x14 squares with additional goal areas on the edges. On your turn, perform the following steps:
1. Determine the Pounce
Roll the 1 die to determine the movement distance for this turn.
2. Move a Cat
Choose 1 of your cats and move it the exact number of squares shown on the die:
- Direction: The cat may move in any of the 8 directions (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal).
- Straight Line: The movement must be in a single straight line; turning during a move is not permitted.
- Obstacles: Cats may not jump over other cats (friendly or opposing).
- Occupancy: A square can never be occupied by 2 cats at the same time.
3. Capturing an Opponent
If your movement ends exactly on a square occupied by an opponent's cat, that cat is captured:
- The opposing cat is permanently removed from the board.
- You may not capture your own cats.
Special Rules
- Forced Move & Passing: If a legal move is possible, you must take it. Your turn is only forfeited if none of your cats can move the exact distance rolled according to the rules.
- Entering the Mouse Hole: To occupy one of the two goal squares (mice), you must land on the square with an exact roll of the die.
- Safety in the Goal: Once a cat has reached a mouse hole, it is safe. It cannot be moved again and cannot be captured.
End of Game & Scoring
The game ends immediately as soon as a player moves their 2nd cat into one of their goal squares.
| Result | Condition |
|---|---|
| Victory | The first player to have 2 cats in the goal. |
| Draw | If no player has enough cats left to fill their 2 goal squares. |
Tie-breaker
If all players except one lose all their cats before the goal is reached, the remaining player with the most active cats is declared the winner.
