Overview

Tamago Dorobou is a 3–5 player card game about collecting dinosaur eggs, raising dinosaurs, and bluffing around dangerous event cards.

Your goal is to complete your nest by protecting one egg of each of the five dinosaur types.

On your turn, you draw cards, hunt a card from another player’s hand, then optionally protect an egg, raise a dinosaur, capture a dinosaur, or use extra protection.

Event cards are safe when you draw them yourself. However, if another player steals an event card from your hand during a hunt, the event is revealed and immediately affects the player who stole it.

The key question is: who is holding the event cards right now?

Goal

At the start of your turn, before resolving any Pteranodon ability, you win immediately if your nest contains one egg of each of the five dinosaur types.

Turn Summary

1. Check victory. 2. Resolve Pteranodon if you have an active one. 3. Draw one card. 4. Hunt one card from another player’s hand. 5. Take up to one optional action:

  • Protect: place one egg from your hand into your nest.
  • Raise: pay eggs to gain a dinosaur from the habitat, then draw one card.
  • Capture: if a dinosaur type is no longer in the habitat, pay its cost to take it from another player.

6. You may use extra protection any number of times if you have active dinosaurs. 7. Discard down to 7 cards if you have 8 or more cards.

Important Rules

  • Event cards do not trigger when you draw them yourself.
  • Event cards trigger only when stolen from another player’s hand.
  • The previous hunt target cannot normally be chosen again, unless no other valid target exists.
  • Each nest can contain at most one egg of each type.
  • Face-down dinosaurs still use a dinosaur slot but lose all abilities.
  • Tyrannosaurus cannot be captured.
  • Brachiosaurus can return to the habitat to cancel a capture, including a capture targeting itself.
  • Triceratops cancels event effects and Tyrannosaurus egg-stealing effects against you.

Dinosaur Abilities

Tyrannosaurus: When raised, steal one egg from another player’s nest, then return Tyrannosaurus to the habitat.

Stegosaurus: When hunting, look at the target player’s hand and choose a card. If there is an event card, you must take an event card.

Pteranodon: At the start of your turn, you may take the top card of the discard pile. If you do not, you draw two cards during supply instead.

Brachiosaurus: Increases your dinosaur area from 2 to 3 while active. It can also return to the habitat to cancel a capture against your dinosaur.

Triceratops: Cancels event effects and Tyrannosaurus egg-stealing effects against you.
