Objective

Collect the most valuable cards from the table by strategically playing cards from your hand. Points are awarded for the quantity of cards, specific symbols (Suns), red cards, and clearing the table. The first player to reach 11 points over several rounds wins.

Card Reference

The deck consists of 40 cards in 4 suits (Birds, Leaves, Cherry Blossoms, Pines). Each suit has values from 1 to 10.

  • Sun: Located on the 10 of each suit. These are highly valuable.
  • Red Cards: All cards of the Cherry Blossom suit are red and count towards the color majority.
  • Shokoba: A Shokoba occurs when a player's move clears all remaining cards from the table.

Gameplay

The game is played over several rounds. Each round, players are dealt 3 cards, and 4 cards are placed face-up on the table. A turn consists of:

  1. Play a Card: Choose one card from your hand and play it face-up.
  2. Capture Cards (Trick):
    • If your card matches the value of one or more cards on the table, you capture your card and the matching cards (place them in your score pile).
    • Combinations: You can use a high-value card (e.g., a 10) to capture multiple cards whose sum equals your card's value (e.g., 3+7 or 2+3+5).
    • If your card matches nothing, it remains on the table.
  3. Replenish: Once all 3 hand cards are played, new cards are dealt until the deck is exhausted.

End of Round Scoring

Once all cards have been played, total the points in your score pile:

  • Most Cards: The player with the most cards (at least 21) receives 2 points.
  • Most Red Cards: The player with the most red cards (at least 6) receives 1 point.
  • Suns: Each Sun card (value 10) collected is worth 1 point.
  • Shokoba: Each Shokoba performed during the round is worth 1 point immediately.

Game End

The game ends immediately at the end of a round if at least one player has reached 11 points or more. In case of a tie, an additional round is played.
