Objective

Invest in various railroad companies and strategically expand their rail networks to earn the most money through dividends across several rounds (generations).

Card Reference

  • Share Tiles: Each color represents a railroad company. Owning a share allows you to build tracks for that company and entitles you to dividends.
  • Game Board: Displays cities with different values. The goal is to connect these cities using the rail networks.

Gameplay

The game is played over a fixed number of rounds (depending on player count). Each round consists of three phases:

  1. Take a Share:
    • In turn order, each player chooses exactly one share of an available company from the supply and places it face-up in front of them.
    • Each player takes only one share per round.
  2. Build Track:
    • If you own at least one share of a company, you may expand its network.
    • You can expand multiple railways on your turn, but the total number of locomotives placed is limited to the numbers below.
    • Tracks must be placed to extend the existing network of that color.
    • Building over mountain terrain costs additional track points.
    • The maximum number of locomotives a player may place depends on the number of players: 3 players - up to 8 locomotives, 4 players - up to 5 locomotives, 5 players - up to 4 locomotives
    • If a player builds track in a Mountain hex (or hexes), the total number of locomotives able to be placed by that player is reduced by one. The reduction is only ever one placement, no matter how many Mountain hexes are placed on in a turn. 3 players - up to 7 locomotives 4 players - up to 4 locomotives 5 players - up to 3 locomotives
  3. Ride the Rails (Dividends):
    • Select a city where at least one of your companies has a presence.
    • Move an imaginary train to another city. Each city reached on the route generates points.
    • All players holding shares in the companies whose tracks were used for this route receive money (dividends).

Game End

The game ends after the final round (generation).

  • All money collected during the game constitutes your final score.
  • there is no additional end-of-game scoring for remaining shares.
  • The player with the most money wins.
