Pili Pili: extra spicy Rules Summary
Goal
Pilis 🌶️ are penalty points.
Points are bad, you don't want points.
The game ends as soon as someone reaches 8 🌶️. The player with the fewest 🌶️ wins.
Game Contents
- The shuffled Game Card deck consists of 60 cards:
- 52 Number Cards: unique numbers ranging from 1 to 55. Includes dual-value cards (e.g., 25/52). There are no suits.
- 8 Special Cards (no numerical value): introduce unique effects (e.g., hand swaps, value inversions, forcing hand reveals, giving penalty Pilis).
- A shuffled deck of 18 Mission Cards.
- 23 double-sided Pili Cards (penalty markers).
- 8 Bid Reminder Cards.
Gameplay
Each round follows these steps:
- Reveal Mission & Deal Cards:
- Draw and reveal the top Mission Card; its rule applies to the current round.
- The number shown on the back of the next Mission Card in the deck indicates how many Game Cards are dealt to each player.
- Make Bids:
- Starting with the dealer and going clockwise, each player bids the exact number of tricks they predict they will win.
- New in extra spicy: Bids are completely free! The total sum of player bids no longer needs to differ from the number of cards dealt.
- Win Tricks:
- The player to the dealer's left plays the first card.
- In clockwise order, each player plays one card.
- The highest-value Number Card wins the trick and leads the next one.
- When playing a dual-value card, the player immediately chooses which of the two values applies.
- Special Cards have no value and cannot win a trick. If a trick contains only Special Cards, it is discarded and nobody wins it.
- Hand Out Penalty Pilis:
- After all cards are played, each player receives 1 🌶️ penalty for each trick they were off by (difference between bid and actual tricks won).
- End of Game:
- As soon as any player reaches 8 🌶️, the game ends. The player(s) with the fewest 🌶️ wins.
