Game Overview

Lunar Skyline is a trick-taking game of smuggling, bidding, and skyline construction. Each round, players secretly bid on tricks to win, collect resources by winning tricks, and claim bonus cards. The player with the most points after all rounds wins.

Gameplay

Each round has three phases:

1. Building Bid (simultaneous)

All players secretly choose how many tricks they intend to win, then reveal simultaneously. This is your Building Bid for the round.

2. Trick-Taking

The Lead Player plays a card face-up, setting the lead suit. Players must follow suit if able; otherwise play any card. The highest card of the lead suit wins. Ties go to the last card played. The trick winner leads next.

  • Aces: Declare High or Low before playing. High beats all; Low loses to all. Tied declarations go to the last played.
  • Smuggling: If you win a trick with a card matching the lead card's value exactly, you may hide one card from your hand face-down under the trick. It counts toward your bid but shows no resources.

3. Contract Bonus Card Claiming

After each trick, the winner may claim one Contract Bonus Card. Claiming proceeds in trick-win order, then clockwise.

Round 1 restriction: Only the Basic Contract and the six single-resource cards are available.

End of Round

  1. Excess discard: Discard tricks beyond your Building Bid from your Resources area.
  2. Skyline claiming: Players who met their bid claim one Skyline Bonus Card of their chosen suit, in order from highest bid to lowest.
  3. Contract Bonus scoring: Score your Contract Bonus Cards based on Resources in your building (top cards of your tricks).

Skyline Bonus Cards

24 cards across 6 suits (4 per suit). Each round, players who met their bid claim one card of their chosen suit. Sets score bonus points at game end.

Player Counts

  • 2 players: Each player has two play areas and takes two turns per trick round.
  • 3–4 players: Standard rules.
  • 5–6 players: Standard rules with the full deck.
  • Skyline module: Optional — can be played without Skyline Bonus Cards.

End of Game

After all rounds, the player with the most points from Contract Bonus Cards (scored each round) and Skyline Bonus Cards (scored at game end) wins.
