Overview
- Crazymino is a tile-placement game for 2 to 4 players, every player for themselves.
- Each tile shows four numbers (1 to 6), one in each corner, and has one of four colors: pink, green, yellow or blue.
- The board is a 14x14 grid of colored cells, with four central starting cells and twenty multiplier cells.
- The goal is to score the most points by placing your tiles cleverly.
Setup
- Each player receives 20 tiles, kept hidden from the other players.
- One tile is drawn from the pile and placed automatically on the central cell matching its color. It scores no points and starts the game.
- The remaining tiles form the draw pile.
On your turn
You must either place a tile from your hand, or draw a tile and pass.
Placing a tile
A tile may be freely rotated before being placed. A placement is legal only if all of the following hold:
- Every edge shared with a neighbouring tile matches: both numbers along that edge must be equal on the two tiles.
- Every corner touching a tile placed diagonally matches: the two numbers meeting at that corner must be equal.
- The tile is connected to the existing layout, either by at least one shared edge, or by at least two matching diagonal corners.
Drawing and passing
- You may choose to draw one tile from the pile and end your turn, even when you have a legal move.
- This is only possible while the draw pile is not empty.
When you cannot play
- If no tile in your hand can be placed, you automatically draw tiles one by one until a move becomes possible.
- If the draw pile runs out and you still cannot play, you skip your turn.
Scoring
The score of a placed tile is:
(sum of its 4 numbers + color bonus) x corner multiplier x cell multiplier
- Color bonus: +10 if the tile color matches the color of the cell it is placed on.
- Corner multiplier: count how many of the four corners of your tile touch at least one existing tile. A corner counts when any of the three cells around it is occupied.
- 0 or 1 corner: x1
- 2 corners: x1 if the tiles touching them belong to the same group, or x2 if they belong to two separate groups (your tile bridges them)
- 3 corners: x3
- 4 corners: x5
- Cell multiplier: the x3, x4 and x5 cells of the board multiply the whole score.
End of the game
The game ends as soon as either:
- a player places their last tile. That player also collects, as a bonus, the sum of all the numbers on the tiles still held by the other players; or
- no player can move any more (the draw pile is empty and everybody is stuck).
The player with the highest score wins. Players with equal scores share the victory.
Playing on BGA
- Place a tile: drag it from your hand onto the board, or click a tile to select it and then click a cell.
- Rotate a tile: click the selected tile again, or use the "Rotate tile" button.
- Draw and pass: use the "Draw a tile & pass" button.
- Keyboard: arrow keys move around the board, Enter places the selected tile.
- The star marks the four starting cells. Each color also carries its own shape, so the board stays readable without color perception.
- The detail of every score is shown in the game log.
