Arabella - Quick Rules

Overview

  • Players: 1 to 4 players.
  • Objective: Collect the most Victory Points (VP) by building tracks, purchasing trains, and investing in company shares.
  • Game End: Triggered when the last "6" train is purchased or a player reaches the end of their money track.

Gameplay

The game is played over several rounds using a shared pool of 6 dice. On your turn, you must take all dice of a single value (e.g., all available 4s) from the pool to perform one action.

  1. Select Dice: Take all dice of one value.
  2. Modifiers (Optional): Use unlocked abilities to change the value by +/- 1.
  3. Perform Action: The number of dice taken determines the strength/quantity of the action, while the value often determines the type.

Main Actions

  • Take Income: Mark spaces on your money track based on the number of dice taken. Reaching milestones unlocks permanent bonuses or special abilities.
  • Build Track: The die value determines the shape of the track (straight, curve, etc.), and the number of dice determines how many sections you draw on your map.
  • Buy Trains: Use money to purchase locomotives and cars. The number of dice determines how many units you buy; the value determines the tech level (range). New tech levels eventually make older trains obsolete.
  • Buy Shares: Invest in rail companies. The share price is equal to the total number of train units currently owned by that company. Shares provide dividends and end-game VPs.
  • Run Trains: Activate your rail lines to generate cash. You receive income for cities in your route, and other shareholders of that company receive dividends.

Scoring

At the end of the game, points are awarded for:

  • Total value of your shares (Quantity x current share price).
  • Completed target cards (Contracts).
  • Unlocked bonuses on your player board.
  • Remaining cash (usually at a lower conversion rate).
