Strategies

  1. Get as many cards as possible and try to outlast your opponent. Drawback: Unless you have a trainer card that allows reordering, you cannot control the order that cards appear, so this may be a big fail.
  2. Get six (distinct) cards so you never max out on the bench. Keep getting matching cards, and give up on cards when you get better cards that you can match. Drawback: The luck of the draw/redraw impacts how successful you can be at this. This can also be tricky when you switch decks.
  3. Another general strategy is to move more quickly to the higher level decks as those can be worth more points. Drawback: You have less opportunity to do take advantage of strategy #2.
  4. Build a deck with a focus on one or two visitor sets (ie the "suit"). This can enable you to make use of the cards that align well with suit you choose.
  5. Trainers can heavily impact your strategy, so if you use them, be sure to make the most of your trainer. For instance, the Collector or will add a plus one to any card that matches the visitor set in your first seat so choose that to be the most common set you have.1 On the other hand, you can put only one card on this seat.

Footnotes

  1. Careful with the fine print! For instance in the Collector there are restriction on what can sit on the first seat.
