Overview

Assemble! is a fast-paced card-drafting game for 2–4 players. Over 6 rounds, recruit Heroes to create the most valuable team.

Each round, players draw a card, secretly offer a card, and recruit a Hero from a shared recruiting row.

At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins.

Players: 2–4 Playing Time: 10 minutes Game Length: 6 rounds

Setup

  1. Place El Número Uno faceup in the center of the table.
  2. Shuffle the Hero deck and place it facedown nearby.
  3. Reveal 1 Hero card from the deck beside El Número Uno to create the recruiting row.
  4. Deal 1 Hero card facedown to each player. Players keep their hands secret.
  5. Place the reference card nearby.
  6. The youngest player receives the 1st Player token.

Gameplay

The game lasts 6 rounds.

Each round consists of three steps:

1. Draw 1 Card

Each player draws 1 card from the Hero deck and adds it to their hand.

2. Offer 1 Card

Each player secretly selects 1 card from their hand to offer to the recruiting row.

All players reveal their selected cards simultaneously and add them faceup to the recruiting row.

3. Recruit 1 Hero

Beginning with the player holding the 1st Player token, players take turns choosing 1 faceup card from the recruiting row.

Add your selected Hero to your hand, keeping it hidden unless it has a Public Identity effect.

Continue until every player has recruited 1 card.

El Número Uno

El Número Uno is a special card that is always available in the recruiting row.

If you recruit El Número Uno:

  • Take the 1st Player token.
  • Draw a replacement Hero card from the deck into your hand.
  • Return El Número Uno to the recruiting row at the end of the round.

You will be the first player during the next round.

If nobody recruits El Número Uno, the current first player keeps the token.

Starting the Next Round

At the beginning of each new round:

  1. Discard any remaining Hero cards from the recruiting row.
  2. Keep El Número Uno in the recruiting row, returning it if necessary.
  3. Reveal 1 new Hero card from the deck beside El Número Uno.
  4. Begin the next round with the Draw step.

Each player gains 1 additional Hero card per round.

Hero Cards

Heroes have different scoring conditions and abilities.

Hero Score: Points scored by an individual Hero based on its printed scoring effect.

Team Score: Points determined by combinations of Heroes in your assembled team.

Icons: Symbols used by certain Heroes when calculating their scores.

Insignia: Identifies a Hero's group and is used by Team Score effects.

Maverick: Certain Heroes have unique abilities that modify gameplay or scoring.

Public Identity: Heroes marked with the Public Identity symbol are placed faceup in front of their owner when recruited rather than kept hidden in hand. They remain part of that player's team.

Power Number: Used only when playing the optional Paragon Mode.

Follow each Hero card's printed effects when determining its score.

End of Game

The game ends after 6 rounds.

Each player will have assembled a team of 7 Hero cards.

All players reveal their hidden Heroes and calculate their total points.

To score your team:

  1. Reveal all your recruited Heroes.
  2. Group Heroes by insignia to make scoring easier.
  3. Calculate individual Hero Scores.
  4. Calculate Team Scores based on your complete team.
  5. Apply any relevant special scoring effects.
  6. Add everything together for your final score.

The player with the highest total score wins!

Tiebreaker

If players have the same score, the tied player with the most unique insignias among their Heroes wins.

Paragon Mode

Paragon Mode is an optional game variant that uses the Power Numbers printed on Hero cards.

Consult the Paragon Mode rules for its additional gameplay and scoring rules.
