Getting Started

Rolling 3 dice for your first 10 rolls is a good basic starting strategy. The aim is to fill in the 3x3 grid where the three right-most pentagons are during this time. A good average score for these are:

  • Orange 9-11
  • Yellow 10-12
  • Purple 15+ (tip - this pentagon is a good space to hold out for a big number as it has the potential to score vertical and horizontal)

If you have managed to fill in the 3x3 region (or close to), transitioning to a pair of dice is a good idea. Slowly fill in the left gaps of the two rows you are aiming to complete (as well as trying to score the remaining two pentagons). You ideally leave between 1 and 3 gaps of each row that are below 6. This will give you some safer rolls with 1 dice at the end if the game is coming down to a 4X result.

Choosing to place your opponents or skip depends on:

  • Is it a number you need for points?
  • Is it the third of that number too early and reduce your safe roll outcomes?
  • Is your grid wide open or closed down?
  • Will this block neighbouring numbers? (Placing a 10 in a column that is adjacent to a column already filled in with 11 and 12 means the next number needs to be 13+!)
