Overview

You are a wealthy railway owner, competing to purchase shares, build track, and profit from dividends at a train yard. Cards in hand represent a player’s money. Acquire the most money before the bank runs out to win the game.

Setup

Each suit represents a rail company. Shares (face cards) are sorted by suit in piles with the locomotives (jokers) set beside them. Players are dealt a hand of the remaining number cards (A-10). The remaining deck becomes the bank draw pile.

Player Turns

After an opening bid to determine a start player, players choose one action on their turn.

  1. Repairs – Discard and draw replacement cards to your hand.
  2. Purchase Share – Spend card(s) from your hand higher than the current share value to purchase the top share card of a company.
  3. Build Track – Build a card as a higher or lower track section for the company that you own a matching share of.
  4. Pay Dividends – The bank deck pays companies in cards according to the amount of track built. The King share owner is paid first, then the Queen share owner, then the Jack share owner.

If the bank deck runs out, it is replenished by the discard pile.

Locomotives

Playing an all-aboard (A) card allows you to place a locomotive on any company. Companies with locomotives alter the order that dividends are paid and also give their share owners a one-time double payment bonus.

End of Game

The game ends immediately when the bank deck runs out and there is no discard pile to replenish. Players count how many cards they have in hand, regardless of rank. The player with the most cards in hand has the most money and is the winner.
