Card Distrubution
Stove (6 cards): 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4
Table/Door (11 cards): 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4
Bed/Window (11 cards): 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4
- Since the stove has the fewest cards, they are very important for battling over this key area (see Player Strategy)
General Strategy
Stove cards are inherently important because the "Clean the House" goal is the only goal in the game which can be completed and then made incomplete by a red token.
Off-suited cards can be used to place tokens (for example, a stove card played on the table location), but only if uncountered by a higher card or trumped by any card of the suit location (a 4 Stove played on the Table Location will lose to any Table card played there, including the 1 Table).
There are 7 rounds total. 1-6, you will have 4 cards in hand; in round 7, you only have 2.
The final round will often decide the game; since you will only have 2 cards in hand, keeping strong cards for that round may help you grab the victory.
Player Strategy
Propuh
The propuh wins in two ways:
- Preventing the grandmother player from completing their goals (she becomes tired and gives up)
- Completing its goals (it opens both the door and window, completing its passage through the house); the propuh wins if players tie at the end
Advantages:
- Plays Last: the propuh always plays last in the round; their last play in every round cannot be countered. This can be used to counter the grandmother's card or to sneak a red token onto a spot using a weak card.
- Wins Game if Tie: If both players achieve their objectives, you win.
- Stove: good for distractions; if there is a single red token on the stove location at game end, and the grandmother does not remove it, you win because the "clean the house" goal is incomplete. Because the stove suit has so few cards, the propuh can use the stove as a distraction while trying to place red tokens on the table/door or the bed/window. The grandmother must remove that token in order to win.
Grandmother
The grandmother is slightly more challenging as she must complete all her goals and keep the propuh from completing theirs to win.
Advantages:
- Removes Red Tokens: move the grandmother to where the propuh has enough tokens to complete their goal or is getting close. Keep the stove in mind (see above).
- Plays First: the grandmother sets the tone for the round, forcing the propuh to react at a specific location or allow you to add green tokens and complete your goals. The first card of the round will set the stage for the next three plays of the round.
- Green Tokens Are Permanent: every token you win stays on that spot and cannot be removed.
