King of Tokyo Duel Rules Summary

**Objective**

The objective of "King of Tokyo Duel" is to become the most celebrated or feared monster by moving the Fame or Destruction markers to your side of the board. You win by fulfilling one of the following conditions:

  • Reducing your rival's Life Points to zero.
  • Moving both markers into the Spotlight Zones on your side.
  • Moving either marker to the Victory space on your side.

**Gameplay Overview**

A typical turn consists of four phases:

  1. Roll Dice: Roll up to 6 dice (plus any extra dice gained through effects) up to three times. You can reroll any dice after the first roll.
  2. Resolve Dice: Resolve each die based on its symbol:
    • Attack (Claw): Damage your rival.
    • Heal (Heart): Gain Life Points.
    • Energy (Lightning Bolt): Gain Energy cubes.
    • Fame/Destruction (Star or Building): Move the corresponding marker.
    • Special Power (Exclamation Point): Activate your special power.
  3. Buy Power Cards or Gain Energy: Spend Energy cubes to buy Power cards from the board or gain additional Energy.
  4. End Turn: Pass the dice to your rival.

**Key Mechanics**

  • Resource Management: Manage Energy cubes to buy Power cards.
  • Area Control: Move markers to control areas of the board.
  • Card Drafting: Select Power cards strategically to enhance gameplay.

**Special Rules**

  • Buzz Tokens: Place these on the board to gain bonuses or hinder your rival.
  • Monster Powers: Each monster has a unique ability that can be activated using specific dice rolls.
  • Dice Tokens: Use these to roll extra dice.

**Endgame Conditions**

The game ends when:

  • A player's Life Points reach zero.
  • Both markers are in the Spotlight Zones on one player's side.
  • Either marker reaches the Victory space on one player's side.

**Common Mistakes or Misunderstandings**

  • Rerolling Dice: Remember you can only reroll dice after the first roll.
  • Buzz Token Placement: Ensure Buzz tokens are placed on empty spaces and not on top of other tokens or markers.
  • Power Card Costs: The rightmost Power card on the board always costs one less Energy cube than listed.
