Gamehelppixies
Pixies is played over 3 rounds. At the end of the third round, players scores are totaled for all three rounds and the highest total is the winner.
The 70 card deck is shuffled and placed facedown. First player is chosen randomly.
Each round is divided into several turns, which follow these three steps: 1. The first player reveals as many cards as there are players. 2. In turn order going clockwise, each player must take 1 of the revealed cards and place it in their play area (following the placement rules below). 3. When the last card is taken, the turn is over. The next round is started by the last player to take a card.
Card Placement Rules
Each players playing area consists of 9 spaces.
If possible, you must place the card you drew in the space matching the number on the card. There are three possible scenarios.
Case 1: There is NO card in the appropriate space. If this is so, you place your card FACEUP in the correct space.
There is a FACEDOWN card in the appropriate space. If this is so, you place your card faceup on top of it. (Be sure to stagger the cards so all can see there is a facedown card below it).
Case 2: There is already a faceup card in the appropriate space. If this happens the player must decide which one to keep faceup and turn the other facedown. (As above, be sure to stagger the cards a bit)
Case 3: The player already has a faceup card with the number in place AND already has a facedown card below it.
If this happens then the player must place the card FACEDOWN on any EMPTY space. As it is facedown, it does not matter what the number on the card is.
When a card is placed faceup on top of a facedown card, it is called VALIDATED. This will be addressed when scoring.
The end or the round is triggered when, at the end of any turn (after all players have played) any player has filled all 9 of their spaces. Regardless of whether the cards are faceup or facedown.
SCORING
Scoring is calculated in three areas. VALIDATED CARDS, SYMBOLS and LARGEST COLOR ZONE
VALIDATED CARDS are, as mentioned above, faceup cards with a facedown card below it.
