Hi! I'm Keith, the game's designer! This list needs to be expanded, but I'll write a few things just to get new players started:

  • Probably the biggest tip I can give is, if you think you might get bumped into a threatened tile next turn, don't buy an item this turn! I can't tell you how many times I've died this way.
  • It's VERY important to keep track of the NEST. How many wings are in it now? Has BAIT (the only 3-wing card) been played already? Is it likely to ROOST? If you don't have a sense of this, it's really hard to know which direction to move!
  • Pay attention to your Wizard card and try to get as much value out of those powers as you can.
  • Stick with one character for awhile until you figure out how to best use their strengths. I'd recommend a simple character like Derby, Abragail or Eve to start.
  • If you're playing with Bridge Hacks in play, when in doubt, choose BUMP over MOVE, because BUMP gets you white gems.
  • STEP is a powerful card! With it, it's possible to do an escape win if you started your turn one space out from the escape tiles.
  • Transfer is often a good first move. So is Magic Dart. It's great to get a gem advantage on the other player when all else is equal.
  • Don't be afraid to spend a gem to TELEPORT sometimes. Those two extra tiles add up!
  • If the opponent is threatening an Escape win, use Insight or Shockwave to remove a MOVE card from their hand to buy you some time!
  • Don't forget about the current Dragon Power! Using this to your advantage can be crucial.
  • When choosing an item, consider which one might go best with your character's powers. For example, Abragail goes great with the Accursed Loom, since she can get a +1 on her MOVE and her BUMP. But also, consider what item would be good on your opponent (consider grabbing the Loom if your *opponent* is Abragail, for instance).
