1. Game Overview In this game, each player leads a Party of adventurers. Use the abilities of your Party members to acquire new cards, strengthen your Party, and turn cards into Rewards for Victory Points. As the game progresses, increasingly powerful cards will appear on the Board, from Rank 1 all the way to Rank 6. When the Rank 6 cards run out, the game ends. The player with the most Victory Points wins. 2. Game Areas Area Description Party The cards currently available for you to use. Hand Cards you have acquired but have not yet added to your Party or Rewards. Reward Area Cards and Bonuses you have scored. These contribute to your final Victory Points. Board Four face-up cards available to players. Rank Deck The deck currently supplying cards to the Board. The game begins with Rank 1 and progresses through Rank 6. Bonus An additional Victory Point reward that may be attached to older cards remaining on the Board.

Your Party and Hand can each contain a maximum of 4 cards after all effects have resolved. 3. Setup At the beginning of the game, each player starts with three Party members: Knight, Mage, and Rogue. These cards are placed in that player's Party automatically. The game begins with the Rank 1 Deck. Four Rank 1 cards are placed face-up on the Board. For a first game, the recommended starting Board is: Paladin, Witch, Buster, and Kunoichi. The web version automatically prepares the remaining Rank Decks and Bonus cards. The starting player is determined when the game begins. Play then proceeds clockwise. 4. Taking a Turn On your turn, you may use up to 2 cards from your Party, one at a time. When you use a card: 1. Activate the Icon Ability shown on the card. 2. Resolve the card's effects. 3. Finish resolving that card before using another card. A card that has already been used this turn cannot be used again. You also cannot use two cards with the same name during the same turn, even if you have multiple copies in your Party. The interface indicates which Party cards have already been used. After you finish using cards and resolving all effects, your turn ends and play passes to the next player. At the beginning of your next turn, your Party cards become available again. 5. Icon Abilities Every card has one of three main Icon Abilities. Explore Explore lets you take 1 card from the Board and add it to your Hand. If an effect allows you to Explore multiple cards at once, add all of those cards to your Hand before resolving the Hand limit. Removing cards from the Board may cause the Board to refill. Recruit Recruit lets you take 1 card from your Hand and add it to your Party. A card Recruited during your turn may be used immediately, provided it has not already been used that turn and you are otherwise allowed to use another Party card. Recruit is the primary way to strengthen and customize your Party. Subjugate Subjugate lets you take 1 card from your Hand and place it face-up in your Reward Area. Cards in your Reward Area are no longer available for normal use, but they provide Victory Points at the end of the game. Subjugate is therefore the primary way to convert cards into points. 6. Using an Icon Ability Without a Party Card If you have not yet used a Party card during your turn, you may choose to perform Explore, Recruit, or Subjugate once without using a card. If you do this, you cannot use any Party cards for the rest of that turn. In other words, you must choose between: using up to 2 Party cards normally, or performing a single basic Explore, Recruit, or Subjugate action. 7. Card Information Each card contains several pieces of information. Rank Cards have a Rank from 1 to 6. Higher-Rank cards generally become available later in the game and tend to have more powerful abilities. Icon Ability The card's icon indicates whether using the card performs Explore, Recruit, or Subjugate. Card Name The name identifies the card. You cannot use more than one card with the same name during the same turn. Card Effect Many cards have additional effects. Resolve these effects according to the text shown on the card. Victory Points Cards can be worth Victory Points when placed in your Reward Area. As a general rule: Ranks 1–4 are worth 1 VP. Ranks 5–6 are worth 2 VP. Some cards may also provide additional scoring effects. 8. Party and Hand Limits Your Party and Hand each have a maximum size of 4 cards. Effects may temporarily cause either area to contain 5 or more cards. Do not remove excess cards immediately. First, completely resolve the current Icon Ability and all related card effects. After resolution, if your Party or Hand contains more than 4 cards, choose cards to Exile until only 4 remain. Exiled cards are removed from the game. Your Party must be reduced to 4 cards before you use another Party card and before your turn ends. 9. Refilling the Board The Board normally contains 4 cards. Whenever cards leave the Board and there are 3 or fewer cards remaining, the game immediately reveals cards from the current Rank Deck until the Board contains 4 cards again. This is called a Board Refill. If the current Rank Deck runs out during this process, the game advances to the next Rank. 10. Advancing the Rank Deck When the current Rank Deck becomes empty, the game advances to the next Rank Deck. For example: Rank 1 → Rank 2 → Rank 3 → Rank 4 → Rank 5 → Rank 6. The new Rank Deck becomes the active deck used to refill the Board. As the Rank increases, stronger cards become available. 11. Bonuses Whenever the game advances to a new Rank Deck, check the cards currently remaining on the Board. Each card whose Rank is lower than the new active Rank receives 1 Bonus. For example, when the game advances from Rank 1 to Rank 2, every Rank 1 card still on the Board receives a Bonus. If you later take a card with a Bonus from the Board, you immediately gain that Bonus and place it in your Reward Area. Each Bonus contributes to your final score. Bonuses cannot be placed in your Hand or Party. Expiring Bonus Cards If another Rank advancement occurs while a card with a Bonus is still on the Board, that card and its attached Bonus are Exiled. For example, if a Rank 1 card gains a Bonus when Rank 2 begins but is still on the Board when Rank 3 begins, that Rank 1 card is removed from the game. Rank 6 cards never receive Bonuses. 12. End of the Game There is no Rank Deck after Rank 6. When the final Rank 6 card leaves the Board, the game ends at the end of the current turn. Players then calculate their final scores. Your final score consists of:

    • Victory Points printed on cards in your Reward Area

- points from applicable card effects - Bonuses in your Reward Area.** The player with the most Victory Points wins. 13. Tiebreakers If two or more players are tied for the most Victory Points, compare the total Rank of the cards in their Parties. The player with the higher total wins. If there is still a tie, compare the total Rank of the cards in their Hands. The player with the higher total wins. Card effects that provide end-game scoring only function when the card is in the appropriate active area. Cards in your Hand or Reward Area do not activate their normal card effects unless explicitly stated otherwise.
