Overview

You are a builder in Positano competing to construct cliffside buildings with the best seaside views. Score the most points from your unblocked views, goals and gelato.

Round Structure

1. Bid

Bid for draft order for Lot, Blocks, Build tiles. Choose 1 Base Bid + 1 Booster. Reveal simultaneously. Add the Booster to all 3 Base Bid values.

2. Draft Tiles

For each row of tiles: Highest bid picks first, then descending. If bids are tied, the Base Bid card with the most stars drafts first.

3. Build

The 3 tiles you draft determine where you'll build and attributes of the building:

Lot: Determines build location.

Block: Gain blocks for building. Some Block tiles let you double (2x) or triple (3x) your current number of blocks. Unused blocks may be saved for the next round.

Build: Determines building quality and may let you add-on to or remodel another building.

Building Rules

Regulation Height By default, your buildings can only be as many blocks tall as the level number:

  • Level 1 = 1 block tall
  • Level 2 = 2 blocks tall
  • Level 3 = 3 blocks tall
  • Level 4 = 4 blocks tall
  • Level 5 = 5 blocks tall (not applicable in some games)

Some Build tiles show a +1 or +2, which enable you to exceed Regulation Height by 1 or 2 blocks, respectively.

Add-On: On the bottom half of some Build tiles, you'll see an icon shows a white block atop grey blocks. This lets you optionally add 1 block to one of your existing buildings, as long as it does not exceed that tile's maximum height.

Remodel: On the bottom half of some Build tiles, you'll see an arrow and a pair of banners. This lets you optionally upgrade a roof of an existing building from Bronze to Silver or Silver to Gold.

Game End

The game ends after 6 rounds 1-2 players, 5 rounds for 3 or 5 players. 4 rounds for 4 or 6 players.

Scoring

Buildings: Blocks with unobstructed seaside view score:

  • Cheap (Bronze) = 1 VP
  • Standard (Silver) = 2 VP
  • Luxury (Gold) = 3 VP

Gelato: 1 VP per Gelato icon on played bid cards and drafted tiles.

Goals: Score based on card conditions. Some goals award points to everyone. Others are competitions:

  • Most = 6 VP
  • Second = 3 VP
  • Ties: Compare the number blocks in qualifying buildings. If still tied, add and divide VP.

Solo Mode

Play vs. automated rival Otto Amalfi. Your final score will be the LOWER of yours and Otto's, so try to maximize both of them.

Otto's bids are revealed each round, and then you select your bids.

The higher bid must draft the left tile, and the lower bid must draft the right tile for each row.
