Overview

This is a co-operative version of the also two player Fox in the Forest (competitive)

Turn

A round consists of 11 turns

Each turn, one player will lead the trick and the other will follow

The player who won the most recent trick, leads the current trick

The leader plays any card from their hand

The follower must play a card matching the suit of the leader's, or play any card if they do not hold that suit

The Decree card, which was revealed in setup and can be changed during the game, shows the Trump suit i.e. the suit that beats the lead suit

If you played a card with an Odd number, enact its ability when appropriate

The winner of the trick is either the player who played the highest Trump, or if none were played then the winner is the player who played the highest lead suit

After the winner is determined, you will find paw prints on the two played cards, these combined determine how far the movement piece moves towards the trick winner e.g. a 2 paws and 3 paws would cause 5 movement in the winner's direction

If when moving the team tracker it would move off the board on either end, move it back to the central space and cover the last visible space on the end which was moved off from with a forest marker e.g. if the movement made the piece leave the board on the right, the first available space from the right edge of the board would receive forest, this therefore permanently shortens the path for the rest of the game. If the Forest marker would go on an unclaimed gem space, move the gem closer along into the next accessible space on the path.

If after moving, and not causing a reset, the team tracker is on a space connected to Gems, you may claim a single gem from that pile regardless of how many may be stacked there

After a Trick is resolved, place the played cards nearby so it is easily accessible for reference during future tricks, then start a new trick with the winner of the current one

Round End

The round ends after 11 tricks, at which point perform the following:

Add a gem to each space which contains a +

Add a Forest token to one end of the path, the players may choose the end except when the team tracker is on the last space of one end then they have to choose the other, if there is no Forest tokens to place at this point that is fine, it does NOT cause a Loss

As with during the game, if placing the new Forest token covers an occupied gem space, move the gems one space inwards

Shuffle all 30 cards and deal out 11 each in addition to revealing a single card for the start Decree

The Team Tracker remains in the space it ended the round it, it does NOT reset to the central space

Game End

If the players run out of Forest tokens to place, they LOSE!

If the players have taken 3 rounds and still haven't succeeded, they LOSE!

If the players collect all the gems by the end of the 3rd round, they Win!

IF the players Win, they may score as follows:

Score 10, 20, or 30 points depending on whether you chose a Level 1 game, a Level 2 game, or a Level 3 game (higher the level, higher the difficulty)

Score 1 point for each remaining hand card

Score 10 points if you won in round 2

Score 3 points for each unplaced Forest tile
