Overview
The game is played over 14 Rounds (5 in Spring, 4 in Summer, 3 in Autumn, 2 in Winter)
The Draft
Draft a Biome card from cards equal to the number of players + 1
The first player, after picking their card, places the first player marker on the leftmost card so whoever picks this card becomes the new first player
The unchosen card may have an icon at the top:
Fertility (Flower) : Place the card in the Fertility Zone matching its Biome, the total icons show that Biome's fertility value
Aridity (Skull) : Flip the most recent card in the Fertility zone matching its Biome so the icons it provided are removed, then add the Aridity card to the Fertility Zone of that Biome
No icon : Discard the card
Actions
Each turn take one action
The Actions can be reduced to either: Place a Sprout Treeple, Change a Sprout Treeple to a Small Tree, Change a Small Tree to a Big Tree
Specifically, there are 4 versions of these actions, 3 of which take place in spaces belonging to the card's Biome:
1) Plant up to 3 Sprout Treeples
2) Change a Spourt Treeple to a Small Tree OR change a Small Tree to a Big Tree in 2 separate spaces
3 ) plant a Sprout Treeple in one space then, in a different space, either change a Sprout Treeple to a Small Tree OR change a Small Tree to a Big Tree
4 ) Plant a Sprout Treeple OR either change a Sprout Treeple to a Small Tree OR change a Small Tree to a Big Tree in any space not restricted to the card's Biome
Powers
Each card has a power you can use on your turn
Powers can be used before or after Actions, but not between an Action i.e. no interrupts
Powers are NOT restricted by the card's Biome
When a power is played, increase your level in that power by 1
Your new power level is how many times you can act on that power, e.g. a power level of 2 will let you perform the power twice
The 6 powers are:
1) Place 1 Sprout Treeple
2) Change a Sprout Treeple to a Small Tree
3) Change a Small Tree to a Big Tree
4) Place 1 Bush
5) Place 1 Lake then change a Sprout Treeple to a Small Tree or a Small Tree to a Big Tree on 2 separate spaces adjacent to the just placed Lake
6) Gain Points equal to your Power Level in Buds
End of Round
A normal End of Round goes back to Draft and repeats the above
In the 5th, 9th, 12th, & 14th Rounds there is also an End of Season
End of Season
The sun's position on the board determines the direction of light for all the columns/rows
Equal or Greater sized trees block light for trees behind them in their line of shadow.
A small tree has a line of shadow of 1
A large tree has a line of shadow of 2
e.g. a line of Small Small Big Empty Empty Big, the first Small gets light, the second small does not, and the 2 Bigs get light also
Small Trees collecting light score 1 point
Big Trees collecting light score 2 points
No other features gain or block light
