1) Always block three of the same characteristics if you can't use them on your turn. That means you will deny the opponent a chance to win and you will save yourself the hassle of deciding which piece to give next.
2) Try to create multiple opportunities of combinations on the board, so you make it more difficult for your opponent when its his/her turn to give you a piece.
3) The best winning combination is to try and create a situation where you can win with either short or tall pieces.
4) Draw is better than a defeat!
