Overview =

Duel for Cardia is a two-player game where each player has an identical deck of 16 cards. Each card has a number and a special ability or effect. The players play one card against each other. The card with the higher number wins a signet ring (collect 5 signets to win the round), but the card that does not win invokes its ability.

Gameplay

During each round, each player plays a single card from their hand and places it face down. Both cards are revealed simultaneously. The card that has the higher number wins one Signet Ring. The card with the lower number activates its ability.

On a tie, no signet is awarded and neither ability is activated.

The round ends, but the cards remain in place. Abilities may affect the winner of previous rounds or have ongoing effects.

BGA defaults to playing two games.

End of Game

There are three ways the game can end.

  • If a player has at least 5 Signet Rings, that player wins.
  • If a player cannot play a card, the other player wins.
  • A card ability activates and causes one player to win.

Abilities

Only the ability of the lower card is activated. If there is a tie, no ability is activated.

When you activate an instant ability, resolve it immediately once.

When you activate an ongoing ability, a token is placed on that card. The ongoing ability is in effect from now on.

Modifying influence

Some abilities change the influence of other cards. The corresponding duel is re-evaluated. Signets can change sides or be removed in the event of a tie. Abilities are not activated.

Locations (optional)

When creating a game table, you can optionally select a location. Each location has a rule that applies for the entire game.

Recommendation: Play both deck I and deck II without a location at first. After you have played a few games, you can vary the game with locations cards and deck II.
