== Introduction ==
== Overview ==
In Taluva, players build temples, towers, and huts to settle a volcanic island emerging from the South Pacific.

* The game ends in an '''<span style="color: blue">early victory</span>''' if a player builds '''all buildings of two types'''. The score shown in BGA does not matter ''at all'' in this scenario.
* Players take turns to place volcano tiles and settlements on an island emerging in the South Pacific.
* Otherwise, the game ends when no tiles remain and the winner is the player who built the most '''temples''' (in case of a tie, the most '''towers''' and then the most '''huts'''). The score shown in BGA determines the winner in this scenario and is calculated as 1000 points per '''temple''' + 100 points per '''tower''' + 1 point per '''hut'''.
* The first player to build all their buildings of two types wins.

'''Tile''': 3 hexagonal spaces; one volcano and two other terrain types (from most common to least: jungle, clearing, sand, rock, lake).

'''Settlement''': a group of buildings of the same colour on adjacent spaces.

'''Buildings''': temples {{TaluvaTemple}}, towers {{TaluvaTower}}, and huts {{TaluvaHut}}

== Setup ==
== Setup ==
Each player receives 3 temples, 2 towers, and 20 huts.

12 tiles per player are shuffled to form a draw pile. Each tile is composed of 3 hexagon spaces: A volcano and two other terrain types (from most common to least: jungle, clearing, sand, rock, lake).
* Each player receives {{TaluvaTemple|3}}, {{TaluvaTower|2}}, and {{TaluvaHut|20}}.
* 12 tiles per player are shuffled face-down into a draw pile.

== Place A Tile ==
* Place the volcano space on top of an existing volcano.
* Any {{TaluvaHut}} covered are destroyed and remain out of play.

Begin your turn by drawing and placing a tile. Click the space on the board where you want to place the volcano. Choose from one of two options:
Restrictions:
* Must have the volcano in a different direction.
* Must have spaces under both its terrain spaces.
* Cannot destroy {{TaluvaTemple}} or an entire settlement.

=== Expand the landscape ===
=== Place Buildings ===
Place your tile on the edge of the island adjacent to any existing tile.

=== Volcanic eruption ===
Place buildings on empty terrain space(s) of any one terrain type (not volcanoes):
Place your tile on top of two existing tiles so the volcano covers another volcano. Your tile must have a different rotation than the tile below and cannot overhang the ocean. You may destroy huts as long as you do not destroy an entire settlement (see below). Destroyed huts remain out of play.

== Build Buildings ==
''Note: You are allowed to build in such a way that two of your settlements join together, such that there are more than {{TaluvaTemple}} or {{TaluvaTower}} in the same settlement.''

End your turn by building one or more buildings on empty space(s) of any terrain type except volcano. A chain of your adjacent buildings forms a ''settlement''.
'''Beware! If you cannot build, you will be eliminated from the game.'''

Choose from one of four options:
==== Build a Hut ====

=== New settlement ===
* Place {{TaluvaHut|1}} on a 1st-level space not adjacent to any of your existing settlements.

* Begin a new settlement by placing a '''hut''' on a first-level space not adjacent to any of your existing settlements.
==== Build a Temple ====

=== Expand settlement ===
* Place {{TaluvaTemple|1}} adjacent to one of your existing settlements that occupies at least 3 '''spaces'''.
* Existing settlement must not already have a {{TaluvaTemple}}.

* Expand an existing settlement by choosing a terrain type. On all adjacent spaces of that type, build '''huts''' equal to the height (one hut on first-level spaces, two huts on second-level spaces, etc.). You must have enough huts to build on all eligible spaces. In the example below, the red player can build 2 huts on lakes (one on each) or 1 hut on sand (but cannot build only 1 hut on lake).

=== Temple ===
==== Build a Tower ====

* Build a '''temple''' adjacent to one of your existing settlements occupying 3 or more spaces that does not already contain a temple. In the previous example, the red player could build a temple on sand if they built huts on both lakes in a prior turn. Note that it is the number of ''spaces'', not buildings, that determines whether a temple can be built in the settlement.
* Place {{TaluvaTower|1}} adjacent to one of your existing settlements and on a 3rd-level (or higher) space.
* Existing settlement must not already have a {{TaluvaTower}}.

=== Tower ===
==== Expand a settlement ====
* Build a '''tower''' on a third-level space (or higher) adjacent to one of your existing settlements that does not already contain a tower.

You are allowed to build in such a way that two of your settlements join together, such that there are two temples or two towers in the same settlement, for example.
* Place {{TaluvaHut}} adjacent to one of your existing settlements on '''all''' spaces of that terrain type.
* 1st-level ⇨ {{TaluvaHut|1}}, 2nd-level ⇨ {{TaluvaHut|2}}, 3rd-level ⇨ {{TaluvaHut|3}}.
* Cannot build more {{TaluvaHut}} than available.

Quick Help

😡 Account issue? Contact Board Game Arena support regarding ELO, karma, penalties, reputation, etc.

🧊 Slow 3D performance? Not a bug. Taluva uses an older, inefficient 3D technology which does not work well on mobile devices. It is strongly recommend to play on a desktop.

Overview

  • Players take turns to place volcano tiles and settlements on an island emerging in the South Pacific.
  • The first player to build all their buildings of two types wins.

Tile: 3 hexagonal spaces; one volcano and two other terrain types (from most common to least: jungle, clearing, sand, rock, lake).

Settlement: a group of buildings of the same colour on adjacent spaces.

Buildings: temples Temple, towers Tower, and huts Hut

Setup

  • Each player receives Temple3, Tower2, and Hut20.
  • 12 tiles per player are shuffled face-down into a draw pile.

Game play

Place A Tile

  • A tile is randomly selected.
  • Select the space and orientation of the volcano.

Expand the landscape

Place the tile touching at least one edge of an existing 1st-level tile.

Volcanic eruption

  • Place the volcano space on top of an existing volcano.
  • Any Hut covered are destroyed and remain out of play.

Restrictions:

  • Must have the volcano in a different direction.
  • Must have spaces under both its terrain spaces.
  • Cannot destroy Temple or an entire settlement.

Place Buildings

Place buildings on empty terrain space(s) of any one terrain type (not volcanoes):

Note: You are allowed to build in such a way that two of your settlements join together, such that there are more than Temple or Tower in the same settlement.

Beware! If you cannot build, you will be eliminated from the game.

Build a Hut

  • Place Hut1 on a 1st-level space not adjacent to any of your existing settlements.

Build a Temple

  • Place Temple1 adjacent to one of your existing settlements that occupies at least 3 spaces.
  • Existing settlement must not already have a Temple.
Example
Red player builds Hut1 on both lake spaces

and Temple on the sand space next turn.
