Create your play area by arranging the cards in front of you as strategically as possible.
Strategically plant colorful flowers in your garden to score the most points for each color group. Only flower groups with 5+ connected cards of the same color score points. Careful placement is needed or you may lose points - incomplete number groups will set you back. Attract butterflies to their favorite color for extra points!

* Adhere to the conditions associated with the values to maintain your cards.
* Score points with your color sets.

Be careful, cards that do not meet the conditions will cause you to lose points!

* 4 starting ‘’violet’’ cards for the « Summer » variant
The game begins with either 2 or 3 stacks of randomly-shuffled cards (depending on the number of players) and 1 random flower card in each player's garden to get them started. One stack remains facedown, while the top card of the other stacks is flipped up.
* A scorebook
* 1 template card for forming stacks based on the number of players:
** 1 player: about 40 cards per stack
** 2 players: about 26 cards per stack
** 3 players: about 30 cards per stack
** 4 players: no template, all cards

== Setup ==
== Game play ==

Each person randomly selects a card and places it in their play area, face up. Create three decks by making three identical (or nearly identical) stacks.
1. Take 1 card from any stack.

For 2 or 3 players, use the appropriate templates.
2. Place the card either:

For 4 players, there is no template; use all the cards in the game.
* Orthogonally next to a card already in your garden,

Flip the top card from two of the three decks.
-OR-

One deck remains face down.
* On top of a card in your garden.

Designate the player who starts the game.

Always bear in mind that only color groups of 5 will score points at the end and incomplete number groups will cost you points.

FLOWERS is played in turns in a clockwise direction.
~ COLOR GROUPS are 5+ adjacent cards of the same color.

On their turn, the player draws a card and places it in their play area.
~ NUMBER GROUPS are cards of the same number, regardless of color. A number group is complete when it contains EXACTLY the same number of cards as the card value - no more, no less. There must be:

=== 1. Pick a card ===
~ Four '4's

The player, whose turn it is, draws a card of their choice from the top of one of the three stacks.
~ Three '3's

They can draw either one of the two face-up cards or the one face-down. If it's a face-up card, the next player turns over a new card on that stack so that there are always two visible cards and one hidden.
~ Two '2's

Note that the face-down stack remains hidden until the end of the game.
~ One '1'

=== 2. Place ===
The player places the card in their play area:

* either next to a card already played (touching on at least 1 side)
== End of the game ==
* or on top of a card already played to cover it.

== End of the game ==
When a player draws the last card from one of the 3 stacks, they finish their turn then the game ends immediately. Each player's flower garden is now scored.
When a player draws the last card from one of the 3 stacks, they finish their turn by placing that card.

The game ends immediately, and the scoring phase begins.

== Scoring ==
== Scoring ==
=== 1. Discarded cards ===
First you must have formed valid groups of cards by adhering to these conditions:

* A '4' must be part of a group of exactly four '4's.
1. First, you must remove all cards from your garden that don't form a perfect number group. LOSE 1 POINT PER CARD REMOVED.
* A '3' must be part of a group of exactly three '3's.
* A '2' must be part of a group of exactly two '2's.
* A '1' must not be adjacent to another '1' and thus forms a group of one '1'.

Cards which do not adhere to these conditions are discarded and may not score victory points or butterfly points; covered cards are also discarded.
~ EXAMPLE: you started a group of 4's, but only planted three of the 4's. You must remove the three you planted - the whole group.

Each discarded card results in a loss of one point.
~ EXAMPLE: you planted a group of 3's but there are five 3's instead of three 3's. You must remove ALL five of the threes - the whole group.

Note: You can not arrange adjacent groups of the same number. For example, four adjacent cards with '2' do not form two groups of '2'. All four cards will be discarded. Same for two adjacent cards of '1'.
~ EXAMPLE: you planted a 2 on top of a 4, hoping to finish the 2's before the end of the game, but you didn't finish it - there's only one 2. You must remove the 2 AND THE CARD BELOW IT.

=== 2. Victory points ===
For each color family with a minimum of 5 adjacent cards, score 1 point per visible card.

=== 3. Butterflies ===
2. Score 1 point for each card in a color group of 5+. You only score visible cards - covered cards do not score points.
For each butterfly adjacent to a card of its color, score one point per visible butterfly.

3. Gain 1 point per Butterfly adjacent to a card that's the same color as the butterfly.

~ Example: 1 point if the green butterfly (on a yellow card) is adjacent to a green card.

Example: 1 point if the green butterfly on yellow '4' is adjacent to any green card.

Goal of the game

Strategically plant colorful flowers in your garden to score the most points for each color group. Only flower groups with 5+ connected cards of the same color score points. Careful placement is needed or you may lose points - incomplete number groups will set you back. Attract butterflies to their favorite color for extra points!

Components & Setup

There are 108 cards ~ 27 in each of 4 colors: Yellow, red, blue, green. Cards are numbered 1, 2, 3 or 4 in each color.

Here is the breakdown:

    • Number 1's: 3 cards per color
    • Number 2's: 6 cards per color
    • Number 3's: 8 cards per color
    • Number 4's: 10 cards per color, three of which have a butterfly

The game begins with either 2 or 3 stacks of randomly-shuffled cards (depending on the number of players) and 1 random flower card in each player's garden to get them started. One stack remains facedown, while the top card of the other stacks is flipped up.

Game play

1. Take 1 card from any stack.

2. Place the card either:

  • Orthogonally next to a card already in your garden,

-OR-

  • On top of a card in your garden.

Always bear in mind that only color groups of 5 will score points at the end and incomplete number groups will cost you points.

~ COLOR GROUPS are 5+ adjacent cards of the same color.

~ NUMBER GROUPS are cards of the same number, regardless of color. A number group is complete when it contains EXACTLY the same number of cards as the card value - no more, no less. There must be:

~ Four '4's

~ Three '3's

~ Two '2's

~ One '1'

End of the game

When a player draws the last card from one of the 3 stacks, they finish their turn then the game ends immediately. Each player's flower garden is now scored.

Scoring

1. First, you must remove all cards from your garden that don't form a perfect number group. LOSE 1 POINT PER CARD REMOVED.

~ EXAMPLE: you started a group of 4's, but only planted three of the 4's. You must remove the three you planted - the whole group.

~ EXAMPLE: you planted a group of 3's but there are five 3's instead of three 3's. You must remove ALL five of the threes - the whole group.

~ EXAMPLE: you planted a 2 on top of a 4, hoping to finish the 2's before the end of the game, but you didn't finish it - there's only one 2. You must remove the 2 AND THE CARD BELOW IT.

2. Score 1 point for each card in a color group of 5+. You only score visible cards - covered cards do not score points.

3. Gain 1 point per Butterfly adjacent to a card that's the same color as the butterfly.

~ Example: 1 point if the green butterfly (on a yellow card) is adjacent to a green card.

IMPORTANT :

The written values are not points. It's always 1 point per card!

SUMMER VARIANT

Each player receives a plain purple start card in their garden instead of beginning the game with a random flower. During the final scoring you will only score for color groups that connect to the purple start card. You may never cover the purple card.

SOLO MODE

All placement and scoring rules are the same. You have 2 draw stacks to take from - one face-up and one face-down. After you take a card (from either stack) and plant it in your garden, the top card of the face-up stack is discarded. The game ends immediately once 1 of the stacks is empty.

Score:

10 points or less = Beginner

11-17 points = Apprentice

18-25 points = Expert

26+ points = Master

EACH WEEK YOUR SCORES IN SOLO MODE WILL BE AVERAGED AND POSTED TO THE WEEKLY FLOWERS LEADERBOARD.
