Camelling

Camelling is where a player fills the market with camels. This forces their opponent to either sell before they're ready or take the camels, refreshing the market and allowing the player to choose new goods. This technique is best performed when your opponent has no cards, few cards, or has nothing to trade with. To execute, the player must have sufficient cards to trade (camels or low-value goods) and space in their hand.

Balance

Camels are best when balanced: if you don't have any, then you cannot take advantage of the market when there are large sets. But if you take too many, you risk leaving a profitable market for your opponent.

Take a large group of camels when your opponent has a full hand. If your opponent wants to take advantage of the refreshed market, he/she will have to trade cards instead of taking.

If you think some valuable cards are "due" to turn up, make an exchange that fills the market with camels, forcing your opponent to refresh the market for you.

Sources of Income

There are three primary sources of income:

  • Red, gold, and silver goods
  • The first tokens in each set
  • Bonuses for large sets (sets of 3, 4, and 5)

Don't let your opponent grab the high-value tokens for red, gold, and silver. Sell one or two of those before your opponent can, then make it up by selling big sets.
