The '''Surprise!''' card is unique in that it can be played any time. As such, it does not consume one of your actions even if you use it during your turn. BGA also allows you to "Plan a SURPRISE Card" when you have one in your hand. This allows you to plan for the card to be used automatically during another players turn when a specified trigger condition is met. You can choose to have the card automatically used on a specified opponent when they draw, when they have 4 cards in their hand, or when they have 5 cards in their hand.

Overview

Win the game by collecting one pug-filled mug of each of the five colours. Collect sets of pugs to trade for pug-filled mugs and use mischief cards for an extra hand.

Play

During your turn, you must perform two actions from the following choices. You can either select two different actions or repeat the same action twice.

  1. Draw a card
  2. Play a Mischief card for its effect (Gimme, Dig, or Surprise cards)
  3. Play 3 pugs of one colour to claim the mug of the matching color
  4. Play 5 different coloured pugs to steal a single mug from another player that you do not already have (final mug cannot be stolen)

If you have more than 5 cards at the end of your turn, you must discard down to 5.

Mischief Cards

The three type of Mischief cards are:

  1. Surprise! Choose 1 player and randomly discard 1 card from their hand. (play at any time)
  2. Gimme Choose 1 player and declare a card type or pattern. If the player has a copy of that card they must give it to you.
  3. Dig Name a card type or pattern. Search the discard pile for that card and add it to your hand.

Surprise! Card

The Surprise! card is unique in that it can be played any time.
