Dividing the number of cards in your hand by the number of players is a good place to start bidding. It is often easier to lose tricks than win, but betting more will earn more points, assuming you still make your bet.
If you bid 0, you are guaranteed to win at least one point.
If you bid 10 and you get 10 you are a champion.
