== Overview ==

In Wok and Roll, players compete to create the best restaurant menu by collecting ingredients, cooking dishes, and earning Taste Points.

Each turn, one player rolls six dice to determine the available ingredients. Everyone can cook dishes using the shared white dice, but the active player also has access to two additional red dice.

The player with the most Taste Points at the end of the game wins.

== Setup ==

* All players use the same menu type: Simple or Expert.
* Each player receives a menu.
* Choose a starting player.

== Turn Overview ==

Each turn has two phases:

# Going to the Market
# Cooking Dishes

=== 1. Going to the Market ===

The active player rolls all six ingredient dice (four white and two red).

* The active player may roll up to three times in total.
* After each roll, they may keep or reroll any dice.
* Previously kept dice may also be rerolled.
* The player may stop rolling early.
* Once rolling is complete, all dice are locked.

=== 2. Cooking Dishes ===

All players may now use the rolled ingredients to cook dishes on their menus.

* The active player may use all six dice.
* Every other player may use only the four white dice.
* Each die can provide its ingredient once per player during the turn.
* Players may cook multiple dish servings if they have enough ingredients.
* Ingredients from the Fridge and Specialty Skills may also be used.

To cook a serving, use the required ingredients shown above its space on the menu and mark that serving as completed.

Any unused rolled ingredients are lost at the end of the turn.

After everyone finishes cooking, the next player becomes the active player.

== Cooking Rules ==

=== Serving Order ===

Most dish servings must be completed from top to bottom within their columns.

Meat, Vegetable, and Seafood platters allow their servings to be completed in any order within the platter.

Completed servings remain marked for the rest of the game.

=== The Fridge ===

The Simple Menu begins with six resources in the Fridge: five ingredients and one Recipe Book.

* Each Fridge resource may be used only once during the entire game.
* Cross off a resource when it is used.
* Multiple Fridge resources may be used during the same turn.
* Fridge ingredients can be combined with dice ingredients to complete servings.

== Dish Sections ==

=== Rice and Noodles ===

Rice and Noodle servings contribute Taste Points.

Complete servings from top to bottom in each column. No additional ingredient abilities are associated with these sections.

=== Meat and Vegetables ===

Meat and Vegetable platters provide additional bonuses.

* Servings within a platter may be completed in any order.
* Completing every serving in a platter earns its indicated bonus Taste Points.
* Completing servings in the same row may award an additional ingredient.

An additional ingredient earned from a completed row must be used immediately during the current turn. It cannot be saved for a later turn.

=== Seafood ===

Seafood servings may be completed in any order within their respective platters.

Completing every serving in a Seafood platter awards the bonus Taste Points shown for that platter.

== Recipe Books and Specialty Skills ==

Recipe Books can be obtained from dice, the Fridge, or other applicable game effects.

They can be spent to unlock permanent abilities or endgame scoring bonuses.

=== Ingredient Conversion Skills ===

Spend two Recipe Books to unlock one available ingredient conversion skill.

Once unlocked, the skill allows Recipe Books to be used as the indicated ingredient.

* Conversion skills are permanent.
* They can be used immediately after being unlocked.
* A Recipe Book can count as only one ingredient.
* A player with multiple conversion skills chooses which applicable ingredient each Recipe Book represents.

=== Endgame Scoring Skills ===

Spend three Recipe Books to unlock one available endgame scoring bonus.

Each bonus provides additional Taste Points according to its illustrated scoring condition.

Examples include bonuses for completed dish servings or unlocked Specialty Skills.

The corresponding bonus is calculated during final scoring.

== End of the Game ==

The end of the game is triggered when a player completes three dishes or dish platters.

A dish is completed when all its required serving spaces have been marked. A platter is completed when all servings in its outlined group have been marked.

All players finish cooking with the current dice roll before the game ends.

== Final Scoring ==

Players calculate their total Taste Points from:

* Completed dish servings.
* Completed dish and platter bonuses.
* Unlocked endgame Specialty Skill bonuses.
* Any other scoring effects indicated on their menu.

The player with the most Taste Points wins.

If players are tied, the tied player who was later in the original starting player order wins.

== Expert Menu ==

The Expert Menu follows the same core turn structure but introduces additional features.

=== Locked Dishes ===

Some dish spaces are locked and must be unlocked before their corresponding servings can be cooked.

Players may unlock these spaces by spending Recipe Books or using the alternative unlocking method shown on their menu, which carries a scoring penalty.

=== Pantry ===

The Expert Menu introduces a Pantry.

Completing certain dishes unlocks Pantry ingredients and associated scoring opportunities. These resources help players complete more demanding recipes.

=== Fridge ===

The Expert Menu begins with fewer Fridge resources than the Simple Menu.

Additional resources can be unlocked through House Specials.

=== House Specials ===

House Specials introduce additional recipes with their own requirements and rewards.

They can grant Taste Points and other bonuses, but do not count toward the regular dish-completion requirement for ending the game.

=== Longer Game ===

The Expert Menu can also be played with a longer game-end condition of five completed dishes instead of three.

== Strategy Tips ==

* Use the red dice strategically, since opponents cannot use them.
* Save Fridge ingredients for difficult combinations.
* Complete Meat and Vegetable rows to chain additional ingredients into further dishes.
* Focus on completing platters to earn bonus Taste Points.
* Unlock useful Specialty Skills early enough to benefit from them.
* Watch other players' menus: the game can end before you finish your planned dishes.
