Introduction
E&T is seen as weak by most. Her power is only a moveable dome, affecting both herself and her opponent. Yet, how to turn it into an advantage?

God Power
At the end of your turn, you may relocate Talus to an unoccupied space neighboring the worker that moved. All players treat Talus as a dome.

Category
Opponent blocking

Explanation
Once E&T places her token for the first time, she can no longer remove it, she can only move it.

Game Strategies
Early Game
An interesting variation of E&T (but much stronger) would be one where she could move to the token, i.e., having a Clio’s coin at each turn and moving it around the board. However, this doesn’t happen and Talus affects every player (just like Aeolus’ wind). But the fact that E&T is the one controlling Talus is what in fact gives her a power. Another variation was to move the dome before moving, which would also be interesting but I think more or less leveled in terms of ability with the original one.

E&T is especially strong in the early game. I would recommend starting with a worker in the center (C3) and the other in C2 (or equivalent). With E&T, you usually prefer to keep your workers close to each other. You can use a worker together with Talus to create a barrier of two squares. This might be very hard to defend. Consider the following example of an example of a matchup between E&T and Maenads:
(https://boardgamearena.com/archive/replay/210812-1032/?table=194015221&player=38368730&comments=84688684;) After 2 turns, the situation is as follows:

Notice how the E&T creates a barrier in the D-column and now she has a serious threat impossible to defend: E&T will create a level 2 in E1 (impossible to block), she will move there, build in D1, move to D1 and build in E1. There is absolutely nothing Maenads can do. Talus and a worker in D2 and E2 respectively block any possible defense of the corner.

At the end, E&T wins after 5 turns, the least number of moves she can (using only her blocks). You can’t say that this isn’t impressive. Just in the second move, she had already made a winning attack impossible to stop.

Lesson to take home: E&T is strong playing with her workers together and creating corner attacks. As an opponent, you should try to prevent E&T from getting her workers close and using a corner comfortably.

Mid Game
If you think that the Talus is just a square you are taking away from your opponent, you are missing some neat strategies which E&T can use. Sometimes it might be useful to use the Talus to prevent your opponent from building in that square (this is nice against Ares).

For example, she can block her own winning threat: E&T is in a level 2 and builds an adjacent level 3 which only she can use, i.e., she creates a winning threat. But instead of really threatening to win, she places Talus on the level 3. Why? Creating that winning threat can mean nothing if the opponent can block it. By doing this, E&T is preventing the opponent from doming the tower and at any moment, she can remove the token, thus creating the threat. Consider the following example:

E&T didn’t want to let the opponent move up to A4, but timing wasn’t right to create a level 3 threat (the opponent could block it easily and move on with their game). So E&T blocked her own winning threat and waited until a good move was available to remove it.

The Talus can also be used to weaken a lot of powers, for example Bia, Maenads, Minotaur and Siren, by preventing them from using their ability.

Another thing worth mentioning is that E&T should not make the mistake of blocking an opponent’s level 3 threat by using Talus whenever she can build a dome. If the opponent does not move the threatening worker, E&T won’t be able to move Talus ever again!

Late Game
The late game is usually very good for E&T, if there are several level 2s, this usually benefits E&T as it is a lot easier to create winning threats for her than it is for the opponent. Moreover, she can start thinking about “sacrificing” Talus in order to trap one of the opponent’s workers (or all of them, even better).

Specific Matchups
Ares
In this matchup, the Talus token is especially good. First of all, it makes it a lot harder for Ares to get closer to your buildings (thus not allowing him to use the ability) and second of all, E&T might place Talus in her own blocks so that Ares cannot remove them.

Artemis
An interesting matchup which I would advise you to try. Although Artemis is very fast, Talus can be a problematic obstacle which E&T can take advantage of.

Bia
I would not recommend this matchup as it is very easy for E&T to avoid getting killed. Most times, E&T can play normally and place the token so that Bia can’t kill her in that turn.

Charybdis
This is one of the rare matchups involving two powers with tokens, and it's important to note that no token can be placed on top of another token. This means that Charybdis cannot place a whirlpool on top of Talus, and Talus cannot be placed on top of a whirlpool.

That said, Charybdis holds the upper hand in this matchup. However, if you are playing in a friendly environment, you might allow Europa & Talus to place their token on top of the whirlpools to make the match more challenging. Even in that case, Charybdis remains the stronger power.

Circe
E&T must be careful here as when she loses her power, Circe might use Talus to prevent her from connecting the workers and thus staying without power.

Dionysus
This is a balanced game but E&T should be prefered. She can also consider the possibility to use Talus to prevent her own workers from playing certain moves, when controlled by Dionysus. A similar analysis can be done with Eris, but in that matchup it is actually Eris who should be stronger (E&T should try to keep her workers separated and climb slowly to victory).

Eros
Although it might seem easy for E&T to keep Eros apart by making use of Talus, she will still have a very hard time and Eros will be the one dominating.

Hecate
E&T can use Talus just to try to find the location of Hecate, which is quite cool. She moved, she built so if the Hecate is indeed where she placed Talus, she doesn’t lose this progress.

Hydra
It is in fact surprising that Hydra will be the one defending in this matchup. E&T has a lot of initiative and even by spreading workers all over the board, it will be very hard for Hydra to defend.

Iris
This is a very interesting matchup because Talus is very effective. This is because E&T might use Talus to prevent Iris from jumping and when the possible jumper moves, she can move the Talus token. For example, if Iris creates a winning threat with both workers by using her ability, E&T can place Talus in the level 3 and remove it in the next turn since Iris will no longer be threatening that square (she has to move a worker).

Maenads
As seen in the first example, if Maenads is not careful to place her workers, she can lose in very few moves. The problem is that even if she doesn’t E&T can use Talus to prevent Maenads from using her condition. E&T is stronger in this matchup.

Minotaur
Even though E&T can sometimes use Talus to prevent Minotaur from pushing her, Minotaur is still stronger in this matchup. Still, E&T can still try to create some corner strategies (Minotaur is less effective playing in the corners).

Nyx
When there is an odd number of complete towers, the square with Talus is treated as a normal square. In particular, any worker may move to that square or build there (removing the token and returning it to the player). If the day (even number of towers) comes and there is a worker over Talus, that worker cannot move. However, E&T can still use her power. If she does, she frees the worker which was in the same square as Talus. If she doesn't, that worker will have to wait for the next night in order to be able to move.

Pan
This combination provides a balanced matchup. E&T can use Talus to prevent Pan from moving to a level 2. But she needs to be careful when doing this because if Pan doesn’t move that worker, she won’t be moving the token any time soon (only when creating a winning threat).

Siren
E&T is very strong in this match as she can most times prevent Siren from using her power on at least a worker. For example, if the wind is pointing towards North, E&T can place Talus one row above, e.g., E&T in B3 and Talus in B4, and Siren does not get to use her ability on the B3 worker. It will be very easy for E&T to play this game, and I doubt Siren will have any chances.

Conclusion
E&T is an interesting power because her dome is not completely a dome. That allows some other ideas a domer like Atlas or Selene couldn’t employ. She is very dangerous using the corners, and the opponents must carefully defend them. E&T is just a mortal with a portable token which also affects herself and that is why she is not much stronger.

Introduction
Triton’s power is seen as great, but vulnerable. It is great that he can move indefinitely without Hermes’ level constraints, casuing a sudden win when the opponent is careless. Yet, a tower may be what is needed to break his tides. So, how to ride on his waves without being knocked over by his opponent?

God Power
Each time your worker moves to a perimeter space, it may immediately move again.

Category
Player move.

Explanation
This applies during his move. After his first move, if he steps on a perimeter space, he gets an extra move, but he may stop instead. If Triton is forced to a perimeter space, this doesn't work.

Game Strategies
Early Game
Triton should try to stay outside of the perimeter but one square away from the perimeter, e.g. B2 or B3. I see many players finishing Triton’s turn with a worker in A3 while it is possible for it to finish in B3. There could be situations where staying in A3 is better than B3, but most of the cases you prefer your worker in B3. In that square you have 3 perimeter squares to go to (as opposed to B2) and you still have control over C3. Moreover, it is a classical strategy of Santorini to let your workers in the way of the opponent so that it is harder for him to get closer (Apollo cries in laughter). Consider this simple yet instructive example:

Triton plays b2-b1-b2, build B1(2), and the opponent can’t get closer. Why finish the turn in A1, A2 or B1 while you are obstructing your opponent in a much central square? In the next turn, if Triton wishes, he can still not move up by playing b2-a1-b2, build A2(2). Notice how in this example staying in B2 allows Triton to use the C1 square in case he wants to reach the lower right area of the board (in the future, this can be important if a dome is built in B1).

Anyway, Triton should build in the perimeter (or near it) and usually avoid the center.

Mid Game
Triton should keep building in the perimeter, avoiding big differences of levels. For example, A2(0), A3(2) and A4(0) doesn’t allow a Triton worker in B2(0) to reach B4 via the A-column. This is a common try for an opponent who wants to weaken Triton: build a dome in A3 (or equivalent). This dome restricts Triton’s ability since it is cutting the access on that side of the perimeter (if you don’t understand, try playing a game with/against Triton, where the board starts with a dome in A3 and E3). Naturally, as Triton, you want to avoid this situation.

Is a dome in A2 equivalent to a dome in A3? Not quite, a dome in A3 is much more devastating for Triton. Firstly, a worker in B2 (and this square is easier to access than B3) can use the A column normally. Secondly, Triton can use the A1 and B1 squares to create a deadly with his workers in B2 and C2. Many times, a dome in A2 brings more advantages to Triton than disadvantages so be very careful when you do that. Consider the following example:

Triton has just built in A2, threatening to move up. The opponent can build a dome in A2, but this takes two turns, which gives enough time for Triton to win.

Late Game
The more domes there are in the perimeter, the weaker Triton becomes. Like previously mentioned, Triton should be more worried with domes in A3 (or equivalent) and the corners. If a dome in A3 happens, Triton should stay in the B3 square for as long as he can. That way, he can use the A-column for his mobility and has two adjacent perimeter squares which he can use in case he wants to return to the same square.

In the endgame, Triton will usually be very good due to the fact that he has an easier control of the squares he controls (he ignores opposition and puts the opponent in a situation where the opponent would be worse due to being forced to move). Moreover, Triton should try to stay in B2 or B3 (or equivalent), i.e., almost any square outside of the perimeter which is not the center (pretty easy right?). If the opponent tries to create a threat in a distant area of the board, Triton can use his power to go there and build and start to build a staircase close to that zone. The most important thing is that there are no big differences between square levels (especially in the perimeter).

Specific Matchups
Aeolus
Aeolus is very strong and he can definitely defeat Triton. However, he needs to be careful when placing his wind as there can be more than one way for Triton to reach a certain square.

Apollo & Charon
It could seem like that if Triton keeps building levels 2 and then moves up directly to the second floor he might be able to get away with it. However, a clever Apollo will just focus on moving to a level 1, and from that point on the game shouldn’t be much complicated. With Charon, things are much more complicated for Triton and he doesn’t seem to stand even a chance.

Ares
This can be a nice try to destroy the perimeter. However, Triton should still be stronger.

Artemis
This is a balanced matchup. Triton is probably stronger, but if Artemis is able to equalize in terms of height the whole board, things might become complicated for Triton.

Asteria
This is an interesting matchup which can be quite balanced. Asteria is able to directly place a dome in those poisonous squares (A3). Still, moving down might give time for Triton to create more threats. In the endgame, Triton proves to be stronger due to easily putting Asteria in zugzwang.

Atlas
Atlas has one goal in this game: dome every single square of the perimeter. Whenever he does it, the game will be lost for Triton. But Atlas has to be very careful about the order he places his domes. He should preferentially start by placing them in the corners or A3 (or equivalent). He still has to be aware of strategies Triton could do in the long run in order to trap himself in a corner. It is possible for Triton to win this matchup, but not if Atlas plays well.

Charybdis
It will be hard for Charybdis to use her power effectively due to Triton being able to reach almost the entire board in every turn. Charybdis can still try her luck in this game.

Double builders (e.g. Castor & Pollux, Demeter, Hephaestus, Hestia, Prometheus, Terpsichore)
The analysis for the double builders cannot be done equally, although I think Triton is superior to most of them!

Terpsichore is the best try against Triton as she can use her workers as domes in the perimeter and still build twice in the same square, which also proves to be useful (she is better in this matchup). Then it comes Prometheus which is a good pick but still needs to play very carefully. Hephaestus and Castor & Pollux can try to win but it won’t be easy (Hephaestus can build a level 2 in A3, which is quite nice, but is that enough?). Hestia and Demeter stand on the bottom of the chain. It will be very difficult to win as any of these gods against Triton, but I still want you to try it so that you can see Triton’s strength.

Eros
Triton will have to defend in the beginning (if not, Eros might win). But after building a certain number of level 2s, Triton will control the game.

Hades
What I like about this matchup is that you pick one of the weakest powers of the game, put it against one of the strongest, and the game is somehow balanced. If played well, Triton is better, but the fact that Triton cannot move down will force him to a complete change of strategy. Hades should start by building (just once is enough) in A3 (or equivalent).

Hippolyta
This can be another try against Triton, but the fact that Triton can stay at the same square most of the time, is very good against Hippolyta and should be enough.

Hydra
Hydra is pretty good in this matchup. Besides being able to cover the whole board, she can use her workers as “domes” in the perimeter. She holds an advantage in this matchup.

Scylla
This monster can try to take the sea from Triton and she might actually be able to do it. Scylla is not as strong as Apollo or Charon, but she is very good to defend and it won’t be easy for Triton to win.

Siren
Who would have thought that Siren could share the ocean with Triton? That’s right, a good Siren player will put up a good fight against Triton. I consider this a balanced matchup, and Triton will likely be the one defending most of the game.

Urania
It is funny how both gods in this matchup love the perimeter. Therefore, the matchup is balanced. Triton will want to dome the corners while Urania will dome A3 (or equivalent).

Conclusion
You should be very scared of Triton and it will be very hard to win against him without first destroying a piece of the perimeter. Triton is very strong, but still needs to be handled correctly. This said, you probably need to play some matches with and against him in order to fully recognize his power and try to understand how to beat him.
