Salvidrim: /* Play a Card */ clarify companions

Overview
This is a Co-operative melding game where the Runs and Sets you create defeat monsters in a dungeon and activate special character abilities. Can your party of misfits defeat the final boss?

Turn
1. TAKE DAMAGE from the current monster for the amount of damage or effect shown on its top left.

::~ If this kills you, then the game immediately ends in defeat!

2. DRAW A CARD either blind from your deck or one from the graveyard.

3. REFRESH BOOTS exhausted during your previous turn

4. PLAY/MOVE CARDS

::~ Play Cards, Activate Boots, Activate Treasure, and Attack, each done as many times as you wish or are able to in any order

5. DISCARD 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard.

::~ If the Graveyard now contains 7+ cards, distribute 7 damage amongst the players in the desired amounts, then move all graveyard cards to trash.

6. DRAW 7 new cards if you end your turn with an empty hand. Otherwise, your turn is over.

Play a Card
RUNS/SEQUENCES

You can play a run/sequence of cards where Aces can either be high or low, but the same suit cannot be next to itself in the run however can occur multiple times e.g. red-green-red is ok, but red-red-green is not

SETS

You can play a set/match where each card is of the same number but different suit, as such the highest set length is 4

BOOTS

You can exhaust a Boot to use a card from the top of another companion's deck (companions are NPCs that fill player slots when playing with fewer than 4 players)

WILDS

2's can be used as a 2 or Wild Number but retains its color. Sets and Runs can only contain a single wild ~ i.e. 1-2-3-2 is valid. If a 2 is already in a set/run, you can convert it to a Wild and move it within the same set/run without paying a boot.

Activate Boots
Exhaust 1 Boot to use the top card of another companion's deck (companions are NPCs that fill player slots when playing with fewer than 4 players)

Exhaust 1 Boot to move 1 card from one set/run to another

Exhaust 2 Boots to swap 2 cards in different sets/runs

Activate Treasure
Discard a Treasure card to use its effect

Attack
If a set/run has at least 3 cards in it, it can be used to attack: Remove the set/run cards from the game and deal damage to the monster equal to the number of cards removed.

::~ Be aware that some monsters can only be damaged if certain conditions are met!

If a set/run has at least 7 cards in it (a canasta), deal an extra 3 damage to the monster and gain 3 extra Mana.

SPECIAL ABILITIES: Total the diamond-shaped Mana symbols in the completed set/run plus any Canasta bonus entitled to. Gain that many Class tokens for the character whose play area the set/run was completed in. You may spend the tokens to activate the character's special ability. The tokens are stored on the character card until played. A character can never have more than 7 Class tokens.

If the monster has enough damage on it to defeat it, it is defeated, however some monsters have multiple phases with different health and/or conditions which must be defeated in order.

Monster cards show a number of treasure chests on the top right corner, which is how much Treasure is looted from them once finally defeated.

Note: Even if the set/run does no damage, you can still attack ~ to clear your play area and gain more Mana and thus Class Tokens.

Also note that as this is just one action. It is possible to start more sets/runs after the Attack.

Class Tokens
BARBARIAN (red) can use a Shield Token to either prevent 1 incoming damage to itself OR transfer 2 damage meant for another character to itself instead. The barbarian has twice as much health as the other characters.

CLERIC (green) can use its Healing Tokens to remove damage from any character.

MAGE (yellow) can use its Draw Token to allow any character to draw a card from their deck or the Graveyard.

BARD (blue) can use its Wild Token to any card in hand, in play, or on top of a companion's deck. You can't use the mana on a card with a wild token on it, and a meld may not have two or more wilds.

Game End
If a character dies, the players lose!

If the boss is defeated, the players win!

How to play https://youtu.be/W0v5Nd1ZAKk

For tips on how to play oh seven, see Tips_OhSeven

Players and materials
* Oh-Seven is a 30-minute trick-taking game for 2 to 9 players.
* Specifically, it's a variant of Oh, Hell!)
* Oh-Seven uses one or two decks of 32 cards, numbered 0–7 in four suits.
** With standard playing cards, use Q to represent 0.
* Five or more players must use two decks.
* Also needed are either pen and paper or score tokens to track bids and scores.

Overview
* The object of the game is to score points.
* At the start of each of seven rounds, each of which consists of seven tricks, each player bids the number of tricks they intend to take.
* At the end of each round, each player who:
** Matched their bid exactly gains points equal to their bid + 2;
** Missed their bid loses points equal to how many too high or too low they bid.

Deal
* At the start of each round, shuffle the deck and deal each player seven cards.

Bidding
* Each player chooses a card from their hand and places it down in front of themselves, face-down.
* Once each player has committed, the chosen cards are revealed.
* The number on each card is the number of tricks the player is bidding to take.
* The top bid's suit becomes the trump suit for the round, and its bidder leads the first trick.
* To break numeric ties, beats beats beats .
** With two decks, if two players bid the same top card, a rebid is forced, described at the end of this section.
* Record the bids, then return the cards to their players' hands for use in play.
** With standard playing cards, set the Kings aside and flip the appropriate one to indicate the current trump suit.
* If the bids sum to 7, then rather than permit the possibility that everyone gets what they want, a rebid is forced, as follows:
*# Whoever had the top bid immediately scores one point.
*#* With two decks, if two players bid the same high card, they each score one point.
*# Players bid again, using the remaining cards in their hands.
*# The new bids replace the previous bids.
* Repeat until the bids don't sum to 7.
* If the players run out of cards, re-deal
** Players keep their bonus points.

Play
* The player with the lead plays any card from their hand.
* The other players then play in clockwise order.
* They must follow the lead if possible, by matching the suit of the lead card.
* If they have no cards of that suit, then they may play any card from their hand.
* After each player has played a card, the winner of the trick is whoever played the highest trump card, if any, else whoever played the highest card of the lead suit. The card ranks from lowest to highest are Q-A-2-3-4-5-6-7.
** With two decks, if there is a tie with the same card, the one played first beats the one played second.
* The winner of the trick takes the cards and piles them face-down in front of themselves, then leads the next trick.
* Continue until all seven tricks are taken.

Scoring
* Each player who:
** Matched their bid exactly gains points equal to their bid + 2;
** Missed loses points equal to how many too high or too low they bid.

Card-passing variant
* Before the bidding, each player looks at their cards and passes some to a neighbour.
* The cards are passed simultaneously and face-down.
* Players may only look at the cards they're receiving after deciding which cards they're passing.
{|class="wikitable" style="width:auto;"

Overview
The aim is to be the first to place all your control markers on green spaces (the "locations")

Each player has a set of coins representing different units, which will be different for each player; each unit behave differently from the others.

Core Concepts
You can only have one coin (or stack of coins) of each unit on the board at one time.

Coins are used to take actions with matching coins out in the field

Each player has a wild coin (the Royal seal) which can only be used to take face down actions or the tactic of the Royal Guard unit.

You have 3 coins available for you to use, a number of coins in your draw bag (in your profile area) and a number of coins in reserve (to the left of your hand) ready to go into your draw bag

You each take turns using a single coin until you have no coins left, at which point you both draw back up to 3 coins.

Turn
On your turn, select a coin and either place it on the board, discard it face up, or discard it face down.

Placement
If you choose to place the coin on the board this can either be on an empty space with either one of your control markers, or on a space where the same unit is present to bolster it (i.e. make it more difficult to get rid of)

Discard (Face Down)
This will give you 3 options:

* - Claim Initiative if you do NOT hold it to go first next round
* - Pass for this action; you may still take an action next turn
* - Recruit a new coin from your supply into your discard area, your opponent will get to know what Unit you recruit.

Discard (Face Up)
This will give you 4 options to be performed with the already deployed unit of the same type:

* - Move to an empty adjacent space
* - Control the location where the unit stands, by placing your control marker on the space or swapping your opponent's control marker with your own (Note: 1 Control marker per space, i.e. you cannot "bolster" control to have 2+ control markers on same space)
* - Attack an adjacent enemy unit by removing one of its coins from the game (i.e. if there was a bolstered stack of 2, it is now 1)
* - Activate the unit's tactic. The Tactic is the unit's special ability which is carried out in full; it is described on the unit's card, an "!" shows something extra they can do beyond normal rules whilst "X" shows something that unit cannot do within normal rules

[Siege Expansion] Siege Tactics requires the unit to be bolstered

END OF BASIC RULES
You do not need to read any further unless you want to know about advanced and 4 player versions

Advanced Rules
After you've learnt the game, you have three options for future play:

1) You can play with one of the other pre-made unit configurations

2) You can play with random units

3) You can draft units to give wider choices

Four Player / Team Changes
* There are 2 Royal seals (wild coins) shared between the partners
* There are 3 starting spaces
* Each player has 3 units unique to them
* The initiative marker goes to one player, but the other player from the same team cannot take it as an action
* Players take alternating turns between the two teams
* Controlled locations are shared by both players on a team
* Recruit action is for the individual, NOT the team (i.e. you cannot recruit for your partner)
* Players on the same team are friendlies, so you cannot hurt your partner
* Any strategy talk MUST be open so no secret discussions, any communication will be known by the other team

* On your turn, choose an action between moving a totem or creating a totem.
* If you choose to create a totem, place one tiki on an empty village without any tiki.
* If you choose to move a totem, move the whole totem a number of villages equal to the height of the totem, without return or diagonal movements.
* For each move, leave the lowest totem on the village passed. A totem belongs to the owner of the highest totem.
* After moving or creating, the player who isn't taking the turn chooses the resolve order of influenced villages. A village is influenced when there are 3 tikis on it. The owner of the totem gets the number of fruits indicated on the village tile. All tikis on it are then returned to their owners.
* The owner of the cursed village loses a fruit, which is spoiled and placed on the side, when it is influenced. If the player has no fruit, apply the effect on a fruit from the reserve.
* Shaman variant - Option to place the shaman between two villages when a shaman marshland (village that does not give positive or negative fruits) is influenced. Totems are not allowed to move between villages where there shaman was placed.

End of the Game
* When a player owns 4 fruit, they win the game.
* When the fruit reserve is empty, the player with the most fruit wins.
* If it is a tie, return a fruit to the reserve that was previously removed due to spoilage. The player who wins that fruit, or who makes their opponent loses a fruit, wins the game.

*Reinforcements - After rolling their dice, the active player may use any special powers gained from purchased cards.

Auto-advance (Hammer)
If you have purchased The Blacksmith's Hammer card and enable the "Auto-advancement" button, Gold earned from any source will applied to the Hammer. If "Auto-advancement" is disabled, you will prompted to allocate Gold earned to either the Hammer or your inventory.

Taking Your Turn
On each player's turn, all players roll their dice and collect the rolled resources. (In a two-player game, players roll their dice twice before each player's turn.)

You are then allowed to perform one action:
*Forge - Spend Gold to upgrade your dice. You can purchase any number of new die faces, but each face you buy must be unique. (Your dice may have duplicated sides, but the faces you purchase within a given Forge action must be different.)
*Heroic Feat - Spend Sun and/or Moon Shards to purchase a single card. Place your Hero pawn on the pedestal containing the card you wish to purchase. If another player's pawn was on that pedestal, they receive a Divine Blessing and are returned to the central island. (This is known as "Ousting" their hero.)

Taking an additional action
Finally, the active player may spend two Sun Shards to take a second action if they wish; if they choose to take a second Heroic Feat action, they can perform the same or a different Heroic Feat.

Game End
You play 10 rounds with 3 players, and 9 rounds with 2 or 4 players. Much like in real life, the player with the most Glory Points at the end of the game wins.

Tiebreaker
If enabled, the following tiebreakers are implemented:

#Number of die faces forged.
#Number of Heroic Feats accomplished.
#Number of remaining resources.
#The player having started the game the earliest.
