===Overview===

Collect the most coins to win the game.

There are 9 characters in the game.

There are 72 cards - all double sided and each character appears 16 times
===Turn===

Draw a character tile from the bag.

You can either keep the side you see, or flip it and have the other side (but no backflips).

Place the tile on that side at the lowest point on a column of your choice.

Apply the immediate effect (Yellow).

If they are on the highest space of their column, also take the column bonus.

If you hold the Treasure Map at the end of your turn, take 1 coin.

===End Game===

When one player completes 4 columns, finish off the round, then end the game.

Apply end game effects of characters (grey).

If using board C, there are also end game bonuses on the board.

The player with the most coins wins!

Remember, 3 Gunner tiles or more at the end automatically loses!

If tied, the player who currently holds the treasure map wins!

Scoring FAQ:
Swabbies score by number of columns they are in. Multiple swabbies in a single column will not increase your score.

===Special Tile===

Dolphin (promo) Tile. If played, this tile allows everyone to flip one tile previously played and use the effect.

Tip for game start:
At the outset, notice what cards you have and identify which room(s) will be the easiest for you and your teammates to divert power. Consider giving a card to a partner if it means they can divert on their turn.

A note on resources:
Remember that, as in real life, resources are not endless! Therefore, try not to waste any by being forced to discard (holding more than 6 cards at the end of your turn). You can choose to draw only one card at the end of your turn (choose to draw a face-up card).

A note on scavenging:
Given you can only restart your turn/actions from a point after revealing information; if you're considering scavenging, it might make sense to scavenge at the beginning of your turn. Your success (or not) at scavenging can also help you determine your course of action. Remember that when successful, you can help yourself to either face-up or face-down resource cards; completely your choice (if you were lucky enough to get a 6, you could even pick one face-down and one face-up, or 2 face-up, or 2 face-down).

A note on action tokens: don't be afraid to take them (even at beginning of game)! It might be better to end your turn early and have more actions available for your next turn, especially if you don't quite have the right mix of resources.

Hope that helped! Have fun :)

RockinRye: /* Mid Game */

==Basic Strategy==
===Early Game===
* Card getting order: high value>late game>noble.
* Gem getting order: current>opponent>mid game>late game.

===Mid Game===
* Mid game starts when all players get about 3-4 cards.
* Calculate what you need carefully and minimize the turns needed. If they are taken by opponents, consider reserving.
* Observe what your opponents plan. Sometimes buy cards when they have 8 or more gems to have a better chance to get a gem you want. Sometimes buy cards with gold so that you can buy cards faster.
* You should try to secure that card you want by either having multiple plans or reserving it.
* Reserving cards not only can prevent opponents from taking it, it can also gain you one gold, providing you flexibility. However, think twice before you use that gold to prevent getting stuck later on.

===Late Game===
* Late game starts when a player gets at least 10 points.
* When taking gems, plan at least 2 ways to buy a high value card. That way you can get points quicker.
* Observe what your opponents need most and grab them to get more time.
* Ending the game as soon as possible is much more important than getting more points, unless you are the first player.
* Using reserves to secure points first before limiting your opponents.
* Unless your opponents are way ahead, just buy cards to secure your position or you may accidentally reveal a card that can change the game!

==Different Main Strategies==
* There are many main strategies in Splendor, which applies for everyone and usually have no preference over one another.
* If you think a strategy is op, it is because you haven't found a way to block them or be faster.

===Card Reserving===
* First, reserve 1-2 important cards, mostly level 2. This can prevent opponents to get them.
* Then, buy a few level 1 cards, at least 1 of each type. This should build up your basic engine.
* After that, start buying cards you reserved and reserve new cards, gaining you lots of points.
* Do note that you can reserve cards from the deck, which is a good thing when you don't want to destroy the current position.
* If you notice your opponent aiming for a card, reserve them first to waste their effort.
* This strategy is what strong players usually do. Therefore when the gold stock is empty, consider other ways to counter...

===Engine Building===
* First, buy about 7-9 level 1 cards to get discounts.
* Secondly, buy cards that can get you nobles. That are valuable in return of your engines.
* Lastly, start buying point cards with little cost after discount. Some better players can even get cards for free!
* This strategy is mostly useful for players who have some gaming experience. Do note that everyone wants them and it can be tricky!

===High-Score Aiming===
* First, select a target. You can reserve it if you want. Then, start collecting lots of gems for it.
* You want to get point cards, especially level 2 and 3 ones. Therefore buy any point card if you can afford.
* This strategy is mostly useful for beginners with little experience in gaming. It can be effective, but can be blocked easily.
* To prevent that, reserve a level 3 card, then buy level 1 cards to reach it and repeat. It is much faster.

===Nobles Hoarding===
* First, compare the nobles and see what cards they need in common. Get them first.
* Then, observe your opponents and decide exactly which nobles you aim for and get the cards needed.
* This strategy is good as you can get 2 or more nobles if you are lucky, potentially winning you the game. However it is quite slow, which is why I don't recommend.

==Card Review==
===Which cards are the best?===
* Level 1: (4,1)>(3,0)>(4,0)>(5,0)
* Level 2: (6,3)>(5,2)>(7,2)=(9,2)>(7,1)=(8,1)
* Level 3: (9,5)>(7,4)>(12,4)>(14,3)
* Note: Each card here is showed by (cost, point). Cards are sorted from most valuable to least valuable.

===What relationship are there between the colours?===
* Level 1: Black for green, Blue for black, Green for white, Red for blue, White for red.
* Level 2: Black for red, Blue for blue, Green for green, Red for white, White for black.
* Level 3: Black for white, Blue for green, Green for red, Red for black, White for blue.
* Note: Each relationship is showed by (most needed gem colour) for (card colour). However, these relationships are usually, but not always true.

The objective is to make sets of identical objects and score points.

==Player's Turn==
* Draw the top fortune card, which affects you for this turn.
* Roll all 8 dice. Each die has 6 faces: coin, diamond, monkey, parrot, saber (sword) and skull.
* If you roll 3 skulls, you forfeit your turn.
* If you get 4 or more skulls, you go to the island of the dead. Otherwise, the turn continues.
* You can reroll any of your dice, except skulls, but you must reroll at least 2 dice.
* If you get 3 or more skulls after the reroll, you are disqualified and score nothing.

==Scoring==
* Each set of 3 or more scores points as follows: 3:100, 4:200, 5:500, 6: 1000, 7:2000, 8:4000.
* Each diamond and coin is worth an additional 100 points.
* If the player generates points with all 8 dice, they score an extra 500 points.

==End of Game==
* If a player gets 5000/6000/8000 or more points, others can get a final turn.
* The winner is the player with the highest score after the final round, if they have more than 6000 points.
* Otherwise, the game continues.

==Skulls Island==
* If a player rolls 4 or more skulls in their first roll, his turn doesn't end. Instead, he goes to Skulls Island for that turn.
* He can reroll as normal, except he can only continue if he rolls at least 1 skull. Otherwise, his turn ends.
* His opponents each lose 100 points per skull. Other objects have no value.

==Fortune Cards==
* Animals: Monkeys and parrots are grouped together and counted as a type.
* Diamond: You start with 1 extra diamond.
* Gold Coin: You start with 1 extra gold coin.
* Guardian: Once during your turn, you can reroll a skull.
* Pirate: Double all points (positive or negative) in this turn.
* Pirate Ship (2-4): If you roll at least the number of sabes on the card, you get bonus points (2:300, 3:500, 4:1000). Otherwise, score nothing but the same number of negative points.
* Skulls (1-2): You start with the amount of extra skulls on the card.
* Treasure Island: Place dices on this card if you want. They are protected and must score, even you roll 3 or more skulls.

* After the Storm: You are only allowed to reroll your dice once. You receive double points for diamond and coins. If you visit Skull Island, you can only reroll once. If you roll 3 skulls, your turn ends but you score according to skull island rules.
*Peace: You have to end your turn without any sabres, or you score -1000 per sabre and your other dice are worth zero. If you succeed, you get double the points. You are allowed to go to Skull Island, but you are not allowed to roll sabres there or your opponents will not lose points.

RockinRye: /* Lower section */

==Yahtzee==

A player rolls five dice to begin a turn. They are then allowed to take up to two rerolls, each reroll being any number of those dice. (In BGA, you click on the dice that you want to reroll.)

After those rerolls, or when the player chooses to stop rolling, the player must choose which category to score the final result. There are 13 scoring categories, and each must be used for one of the 14 rounds. This can often force a player to take a zero score for some categories.

Scoring for Yahtzee are as follows

===Upper section===

1-6: One category for each number on the die. In these categories, the score is the sum of the pips on the dice of that number.

''For example, a roll of 1-1-2-5-5 could be scored as 2 points in the "ones" category, 2 points in the "twos" category, 10 points in the "fives" category, or 0 points in the "threes," "fours," or "sixes."''

If a player scores a total of at least 63 points across these six boxes combined, a bonus of 35 points is added to their final score.

===Lower section===

* '''Three-Of-A-Kind''' At least three dice showing the same face -- Points equal the sum of all 5 dice (not just the 3 of a kind)
* '''Four-Of-A-Kind''' At least four dice showing the same face -- Points equal the sum of all 5 dice (not just the 4 of a kind)
* '''Full House''' A three-of-a-kind and a pair -- 25 points
* '''Small Straight''' Four dice having sequential numbers 1-2-3-4, 2-3-4-5, or 3-4-5-6)	-- 30 points
* '''Large Straight''' Five dice having sequential numbers (1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-6) -- 40 points
* '''Yahtzee''' All five dice showing the same face -- 50 points. You get 100 bonus points for 2 yahtzees
* '''Chance''' Any combination -- points equal the sum of all 5 dice

==Yams==

In the game of Yams, the categories and calculations are slightly different. Scores are generally higher.

===Upper section===

This is similar to Yahtzee but the bonus is calculated differently. The bonus threshold is 60 points, and is 30 points + the difference between the score achieved and 60.
For example: When you complete your upper with 63, you would score 63 + 30 + (63-60) = 96 points.

===Middle section===

This is a higher and lower section which are similar to Chance in Yahtzee and a bonus that is the difference between them.
* '''Plus''' - scores the sum of all dice
* '''Minus''' - scores the sum of all dice
* '''Delta''' - automatically calculated - scores the '''Plus''' score minus the '''Minus''' score

So if the Plus score was 22 and the Minus score was 13, the Delta score would be nine. Like subtraction.

===Lower section===

Scoring is different here for four of a kind and there is no three of a kind. There is no chance. Yams is more generous: four 1s will net you 40+ points in four of a kind, whereas in Yahtzee it woul net you a maximum of 10 points.
* '''Four of a Kind''' - 40 points plus the sum of the dice
* '''Full House''' - 30 points plus the sum of all dice
* '''Small Straight''' - 45 points
* '''Large Straight''' - 50 points
* '''Yahtzee (Yams)''' - 50 points plus sum of dice
* '''Rigole''' - four matching dice and one which has the inverse pip configuration on it. So, for example: 4-4-4-4-3, 5-5-5-5-2, 1-1-1-1-6

* '''Full House''' A three-of-a-kind and a pair -- 25 points

==Yams==

In the game of Yams, the categories and calculations are slightly different. Scores are generally higher.

===Upper section===

This is similar to Yahtzee but the bonus is calculated differently. The bonus threshold is 60 points, and is 30 points + the difference between the score achieved and 60.
For example: When you complete your upper with 63, you would score 63 + 30 + (63-60) = 96 points.

===Middle section===

===Lower section===

Scoring is different here for four of a kind and there is no three of a kind. There is no chance.
* '''Four of a Kind''' - 40 points plus the sum of the dice
* '''Full House''' - 30 points plus the sum of all dice
* '''Small Straight''' - 45 points
* '''Large Straight''' - 50 points
* '''Yahtzee (Yams)''' - 50 points plus sum of dice
* '''Rigole''' - four matching dice and one which has the inverse pip configuration on it. So, for example, 4-4-4-4-3 or 1-1-1-1-6

RockinRye: /* Character cards */

==Theme==
Players are merchants trading in the economy that has grown up next to the construction site of the temple dedicated to Sobek. There's a market, and the feluccas sailing up and down the Nile are bringing goods of all sorts. You have 3 rounds in which to acquire more money than your rivals, but try not to become too corrupt.

==Game turns and actions==

On your turn you must choose one of the 3 actions. Then play passes to the player on your left. The actions are:

* '''Take a card from the marketplace and add it to your hand'''
: Only the first four cards (starting from the left) are available. Taking the first available card has no consequences since the order of arrival of the feluccas is respected. However, taking one of the other cards causes corruption. All the cards that you skip end up in your corruption pile.

* '''Play a character card and apply its power'''
: See below for powers.

* '''Play a set'''
: A set is a group of at least three goods cards of the same type. A set can include one or more amulets which act as wild cards (jokers). A set can also include characters - each character is associated with a goods type; this is shown on the card. When a character is played as part of a set, its power is ignored.
: It is possible to add cards to a set that has already been played (in order to earn more points during scoring), but the same rule still applies: you must add a minimum of 3 new cards.
: When a set is played an event are triggered (provided at least 1 of the 5 event tokens remains). The player who played the set chooses an event from the remaining tokens and immediately applies its effect. The token is then discarded.

==Event tokens==
There are 12 event tokens with 5 randomly selected for each round:
* 4 x Guild - (one of each of snake, reed, ankh, scorpion). On the scoring track, move your scoring marker forward to the next space of that symbol and move an opponent's scoring marker back to the next space of that symbol.
* 2 x Flood - Take another turn
* 2 x Curse - Add a curse token to another player's corruption pile; it counts as 2 cards in that player's pile.
* 2 x Prosperity - add the token to one of your fish, cattle or wheat sets, thus increasing the score of this set.
* 1 x Embalming - return all the cards from your corruption pile to your hand
* 1 x Deceit - Score the number of cards in your corruption pile

==Character cards==
* 1 x Queen Sobek Neferou (Ivory)- draw 3 cards and add them to your hand.
* 2 x High Priest/Priestess (Ebony/Marble)- discard all the cards of one goods type from your corruption pile. Characters of that goods type can be discarded. Amulets (wild cards) cannot be discarded.
* 2 x Scribe (Fish/Cattle) - your opponents reduce their hands down to 6 cards; the remainder are added to their corruption pile.
* 1 x Vizir (Cattle) - add a card of your choice to your hand from an opponent's corruption pile.
* 1 x Merchant (Wheat)- take a card of your choice from along the Nile.
* 1 x Courtesan (Wheat) - add 1 or 2 cards from your hand to an existing played set.
* 1 x Thief (Fish) - steal a card from an opponent. You can see the different coloured backs of the card so you know which type of card you are stealing.

==Goods cards==
There are 54 goods cards in total:
:6 x Ivory
:7 x Ebony
:7 x Marble
:9 x Cattle
:10 x Fish
:10 x Wheat
:5 x Amulet
Nine of the cards have a different coloured back; the player's starting hand is dealt from these leaving 45 cards which are shuffled with the character cards to form the deck. In a two player game 9 cards are removed at random so there will be only 5 goods deliveries not 6 as normal.

==End of the round==
The round ends and is scored when the last card is taken from the marketplace.

Each player may play ''horizontal'' sets from their hand. These do not score as highly as sets played in the round proper but they do reduce the number of cards in the hand.

You cannot play character cards; you cannot add to existing sets.

All cards remaining in the players hand are added to their corruption pile.

Sets are scored by multiplying the number of scarabs in the set by the number of cards in the set (including amulets, characters and Prosperity tokens). Horizontal sets are scored by adding scarabs.

Then the '''corruption penalty''' is applied. The player with the most cards in their corruption pile (including Curse tokens) is the most corrupt. In the event of a tie the player with the most scarabs. If there is still a tie then all players receive the penalty. The size of the corruption penalty depends on the amount of points earned by the player through scoring sets. For every 10 points earned through sets the player will move back to the next symbol of the type they ended up on. For example if Kate earned 23 points and ended up on the Ankh symbol then this is 2 "lots" of ten and so she will move back 2 Ankh symbols.

== Game end ==
The game ends after 3 rounds. The game can end early if one player gets more than 100 points.
