== Goal of the game ==

Strategically plant colorful flowers in your garden to score the most points for each color group. Only flower groups with 5+ connected cards of the same color score points. Careful placement is needed or you may lose points - incomplete number groups will set you back. Attract butterflies to their favorite color for extra points!

== Components & Setup ==

There are 108 cards ~ 27 in each of 4 colors: Yellow, red, blue, green. Cards are numbered 1, 2, 3 or 4 in each color.

Here is the breakdown:
** Number 1s: 3 cards per color
** Number 2s: 6 cards per color
** Number 3s: 8 cards per color
** Number 4s: 10 cards per color, three of which have a butterfly

The game begins with either 2 or 3 stacks of randomly-shuffled cards (depending on the number of players) and 1 random flower card in each player's garden to get them started. One stack remains facedown, while the top card of the other stacks is flipped up.

== Game play ==

1. Take 1 card from any stack.

2. Place the card either:

* Orthogonally next to a card already in your garden,

-OR-

* On top of a card in your garden.

Always bear in mind that only color groups of 5 will score points at the end and incomplete number groups will cost you points.

~ COLOR GROUPS are 5+ adjacent cards of the same color.

~ NUMBER GROUPS are cards of the same number, regardless of color. A number group is complete when it contains EXACTLY the same number of cards as the card value - no more, no less. There must be:

~ Four '4's

~ Three '3's

~ Two '2's

~ One '1'

== End of the game ==

When a player draws the last card from one of the 3 stacks, they finish their turn then the game ends immediately. Each player's flower garden is now scored.

== Scoring ==

1. First, you must remove all cards from your garden that don't form a perfect number group. LOSE 1 POINT PER CARD REMOVED.

~ EXAMPLE: you started a group of 4s, but only planted three of the 4s. You must remove the three you planted - the whole group.

~ EXAMPLE: you planted a group of 3s but there are five 3s instead of three 3s. You must remove ALL five of the 3s - the whole group.

~ EXAMPLE: you planted a 2 on top of a 4, hoping to finish the 2s before the end of the game, but you didn't finish it - there's only one 2. You must remove the 2 AND THE CARD BELOW IT.

2. Score 1 point for each card in a color group of 5+. You only score visible cards - covered cards do not score points.

3. Gain 1 point per Butterfly adjacent to a card that's the same color as the butterfly.

~ Example: 1 point if the green butterfly (on a yellow card) is adjacent to a green card.

'''IMPORTANT :'''

The written values are not points. It's always 1 point per card!

== SUMMER VARIANT ==

Each player receives a plain purple start card in their garden instead of beginning the game with a random flower. During the final scoring you will only score for color groups that connect to the purple start card. You may never cover the purple card.

== SOLO MODE ==

All placement and scoring rules are the same. You have 2 draw stacks to take from - one face-up and one face-down. After you take a card (from either stack) and plant it in your garden, the top card of the face-up stack is discarded. The game ends immediately once 1 of the stacks is empty.

Score:

10 points or less = Beginner

11-17 points = Apprentice

18-25 points = Expert

26+ points = Master

EACH WEEK YOUR SCORES IN SOLO MODE WILL BE AVERAGED AND POSTED TO THE WEEKLY FLOWERS LEADERBOARD.

===Turn===

On your turn you will draw 2 new cards, play one card, discard one card

For each card drawn, you can either draw from the deck or from an opponent's discard pile (you cannot draw from an opponent in the first round)

Place a hen in your 4x3 or 3x4 grid whilst respecting orthogonal adjacency rules, the adjacent hens can either be the same breed (colour) and any number OR different breed/colour but 1 higher or lower in value (e.g. a 3 can go next to a 2 or a 4)

If you cannot, or don't wish to, place a hen following placement rules, place it face down as a coop for -1 points but still adjacent to previously laid cards. After which, any hen can be placed adjacent to a coop, but still respecting any other adjacent hens.

Finally, discard a hen from your hand

===Rooster===

At the end of the 6th round, all players simultaneously place their rooster token on a hen

The group of hens marked by the rooster will score at the end in addition to the largest group unless they are the same, as such it's advised to NOT place the rooster on the group you think will be the largest

=== Cards in the Deck ===
There are 72 cards in the deck. The grid chart on the game board shows what cards exist and with what qualities (card number, eggs, medals). The red squares on this matrix show which cards have two copies.

===Game End===

The game ends at the end of the 12th round

Count the eggs depicted on the largest continuous group of hens of the same breed (colour). If two or more groups tie for largest group, the group with the most eggs will score only

Score points for the eggs of the contiguous group of hens in which rooster is placed, as long as it is not placed on the largest group of hens. In this case points will be scored only for this group, even if it contains fewer eggs than a group with the same number of Hen cards.

For both types, eggs = 1vp each

Any medals anywhere are added up and score 2 vp per 3 medals

Each Coop is worth -1vp (negative)

Score the two goals on the goal card, EVERYONE can score these if they apply, and note that some goals give negative points

After which, the player with the most points wins!

If tied, the player with the largest group of hens wins!

===Overview===

Paint the best 3 Paintings across the course of the game. "Paint a good painting" by assembling sets of 3 Art Cards so that their color swatches (at the bottom) fulfill the goals.

===Turn===

You can do one of two actions on your turn:

Take an Art Card

OR

Complete a Painting

The maximum number of Art Cards you can hold is 5, and as such if you are at this limit you are forced to do the Complete a Painting action

===Take an Art Card===

You start with four Inspiration Tokens

Choose a card from the Art Row to purchase

If the Art Card you take is furthest from the deck, this is free

If you want any other Art Card, you must place an Inspiration Token on all cards to the left of it

If the Art Card you take has Inspiration Tokens on it, you gain them

===Complete a Painting===

To take this action, you must have at least 3 Art Cards in hand

Choose 3 Art cards in your hand and sleeve them in an order of your choosing, leftmost on the bottom and stacking to rightmost on top

Any symbols (color swatches on the base of each card) which are covered will be ignored

As an example, if you had Card A with a centre and right symbol, Card B with a right symbol, and Card C with a left symbol. Card C will never be ignored, likewise with Card A's centre symbol, but depending on how you order Card A and B, one of their right symbols will be lost

Once the painting is configured, you now score it

There are two main types of scoring, external and internal

External scoring looks at the four scoring cards set up at the beginning of the game

You take a number of that colour ribbon equal to the amount of unique times you scored it e.g. with a scoring card of pairs of triangles, 3 triangles would score you 1 Ribbon whilst 4 triangles would score you 2 Ribbons

Internal scoring looks at the Silver Ribbon icons you put into the painting, these have their own scoring functions e.g. how many other symbols are triangles, and are scored in the same way so if you had 3 triangles, you'd score 3 Silver Ribbons in addition to coloured ribbons

===Game End===

The game ends for each player when they have completed their third painting, after which they pass until everyone has completed 3 paintings

At game end, count up the quantity of each colour ribbon, and score points equal to what's shown on its scoring card

Silver Ribbons score 2 points each regardless of how many are collected

The player with the most points wins, or if a tie, the player with the most Inspiration Tokens wins

===Turn===

On your turn you have two options

You can draw two cards, each either from the clearing or the deck

Alternatively, you can play a card, pay its cost, carry out its effect, then check the clearing for need of clearing

You have a hand limit of 10 cards, so you can't take the draw action if you have 10, but may take it if you have 9 -- you will only draw 1 card

===Winter===

There are 3 Winter cards in the deck in the final third

When you draw a Winter card, put it aside and draw a proper card

When there are 3 Winter cards out, the game ends

The third Winter interrupts the turn where it was drawn, i.e. you don't get to finish your turn

===Cards===

There are two types of cards, Trees and Creatures

Trees have a single Tree on them and are played in just one way

Creatures have two creatures on them and are played as ONE of the two creatures

Regardless of which, to play a card you must discard other hand cards equal to the cost in the top left (some cards give bonuses if you use certain cards to pay for them)

You must have an empty tree in order to play creature cards as creature cards are slotted around available trees e.g. a left orientated animal will go to the left of a tree, no vacant left tree space then cannot play the animal

Once a creature is slotted, the other creature on that card is now hidden, and is no longer part of game.

Each time you play a tree, a card from the deck is revealed into the Clearing

If you're struggling for trees, any card can be played face down to make a Sapling, which has no effects but does give you the four direction spaces for creature cards

===Effects vs Bonuses===

Effects happen immediately and are guaranteed. Some are one-off benefits and some are ongoing, especially found on Mushrooms.

Bonuses are NOT guaranteed. To trigger a bonus, you must pay for the card by using cards which ALL match the required type (as shown in the ribbon on the top right).

===End of Turn===

If you chose to play a card this turn AND the clearing contains 10 cards or more, ALL cards in the clearing are cleared

===Game End===

The game ends when the third Winter card is drawn

All players score their visible cards as they describe

In addition, score a point for each hidden card under your cave regardless of its normal scoring properties

The player with the most points wins!

===Turn===

On your turn you have two options

You can draw two cards, each either from the clearing or the deck

Alternatively, you can play a card, pay its cost, carry out its effect, then check the clearing for need of clearing

You have a hand limit of 10 cards, so you can't take the draw action if you have 10, but may take it if you have 9 but can only draw 1 card

===Winter===

There are 3 Winter cards in the deck in the final third

When you draw a Winter card, put it aside and draw a proper card

When there are 3 Winter cards out, the game ends

The third Winter interrupts the turn where it was drawn, i.e. you don't get to finish your turn

===Cards===

===Effects vs Bonuses===

===End of Turn===

If you chose to play a card this turn AND the clearing contains 10 cards or more, ALL cards in the clearing are cleared

===Game End===

The game ends when the third Winter card is drawn

All players score their visible cards as they describe

In addition, score a point for each hidden card under your cave regardless of its normal scoring properties
An arrow is fulfilled when it points to a tile of the same color as itself (this doesn't have to be adjacent directly, just in that required line of sight).

===Overview===

This is a co-operative game to build the mountain and reach the summit by placing a summit card (5 Copies) at the peak (level 9)

'''Cards in the Game'''

* 72 Ascent Cards: These are numbered 1-12 in three different colors with two of each number/color
* 3 Campfire Cards
* 5 Bridge Cards
* 5 Summit Cards

===Turn===

On a turn, you can either play 1 card or discard 2 cards, then draw back to 5 (if you can't draw that many, draw as much as you can and continue with fewer and fewer cards for the final rounds)

===Placement===

Cards can either go directly to the right of the last card on the ground row, or placed in such a way that they are supported by 2 beneath them again working left to right on the higher row

Row Adjacent cards must be of different colours, but the same colour can repeat e.g. red green red is acceptable whilst red red green is not

The number on a card tells you how high it may be placed, but it can be placed lower e.g. a 6 can be placed on rows 1-6

The difference in value between two adjacent cards is what you must discard, e.g. place a 2 next to a 3 and discard 1, place a 6 next to a 2 and discard 4 (If you cannot discard the value required, you cannot place)

===Special Cards===

Other than normal number Ascent cards and the winning Summit Card, there are also Bridge Cards & Campfire Cards

Bridge Cards - These cannot be placed on the far edges of a row, and must be swapped out with an Ascent card by game's end. When they are swapped out, they cause discards equal to the greater difference of neighbours. e.g. if you had 5 B 2 and swapped the B with a 3, you would discard the greater of 5-3=2 rather than 3-2=1

Campfire Cards - These replace Ascent cards of the same colour, the replaced Ascent card is immediately moved up the mountain to a legal empty space on a higher row, if this is not possible then the Campfire Card cannot be played. Campfires remain and are ignored pretending the card on the opposite side is the value for discard requirements e.g. if there was 3 C and you placed a 5 so it was 3 C 5, the 3 is compared with the 5 to make 2 discards

=== '''Goats (Optional)''' ===
Some Ascent cards feature a goat icon. Placing one of these cards adds a goat meeple to the mountain, on the ascent card that was placed. Goats can be moved up the mountain as your turn. Goats can be on the same card, after which they move together. If playing with goats, the goal is to move them to the top of the mountain.

===Overview===

The game plays across two cycles of the deck. At the end of each deck emptying is a scoring phase

===Turn===

On your turn, either take the cards which were passed to you, or pass them on. If you pass them on, you have to add a card from your collection which is NOT present in the passed cards (e.g. no T-Rex in the hand? You may add a T-Rex, T-Rex in the hand? You may NOT add another T-Rex). If you were passed 0 cards, draw 1 card and this is your card to either take or add to and pass on. If you cannot add to your hand, you MUST take it.

===Rounds / Cycles===

The first rounds ends when it is time to draw a card but the deck is empty. All players' dinosaur cards are returned to the deck, and new cards are dealt. DNA cards are returned to the deck, but DNA tokens are kept. The score for the current round will be displayed in the upper right of the player's collection. The final score for the game will include both rounds' scores PLUS the value of any unspent DNA tokens.

===Scoring===

Each dinosaur, generally speaking, has a scoring which is based on how many copies you collect from 1 to 4+. More cards isn't always better. Some dinosaurs score most for having just 1, then decrease the more you have, some the opposite, and others may seem mixed up e.g. score positive in pairs whilst score negative in odd amounts. The left-most number is the score for 1 card, the right-most number is the score for 4+, and then the middle are the scores for 2 or 3 copies respectively

The Grey and Black Velociraptors are their own group except if you get one of each, a grey and a black combine their positive score, whilst a grey OR a black on its own takes its negative score. These scores vary, so if you have 2 Black + 1 Grey, the most advantageous scoring will be made. i.e. if one black scores 2 when paired, the other black scored 3, it would pair the one which scored 3 upon pairing.

The eggs want you to have the majority of a specific dinosaur, failure to have majority creates a penalty - joint majority wins you the points.

===Advance Mode===

The Advance Mode adds DNA (which you have seen on the cards already, but can ignore in basic game)

Each time you receive a card with the DNA symbol, take a DNA token (this is true for your starting cards too). If there is no DNA in the supply, take what you are owed from a player of your choice.

Once per turn, you have the option of purchasing ONE DNA card which you can afford by returning the required number of DNA Tokens and gaining the benefit

There are two types, instants and end of deck scoring

After the first cycle of the deck, all players DISCARD their DNA cards, shuffle these into the deck and the DNA cards on offer are replenished for the second cycle. However, players do KEEP their DNA tokens collected thus far.

At the end of the second cycle, unspent DNA tokens are worth 1 point per pair

* If exactly 2 players chose that card, they each get a super-spark and score 3 points.
* If only that player chose that card, that player falls and cannot score any more sparks or super-sparks, nor be the scout this round.
* A fallen player's cards are still part of sparks or super-sparks.
* The round ends when all players either fall or have no cards remaining to reveal.
* During scoring if you are '''"in the dark"''' (chose most cards) AND you fell, then deduct 1 point for each spark and super-spark.

==Objective==
Score the most points by guessing what others associate with the clue word.

==Gameplay==
* The game consists of 4 rounds.
* At the start of each round, reveal a new clue word. All players see the same word.
* Each player chooses 1 to 10 cards that they think are related to the clue word, marking each chosen card with a checkmark at the bottom left.
* Everyone reveals how many cards they chose, and the one who chose the most goes "in the dark" (ties don't count).
* Starting from the scout, each player chooses 1 of their cards to reveal.
* If more than 2 players chose the same card, they all get a spark and score 2 points.
* During scoring if you are "in the dark" (chose most cards) AND you fell, then deduct 1 point for each spark and super-spark.
* After each round, 5 cards from a row are replaced and the scout goes to the next player.
