Mathgrant: Actual rules!

Mammalath is an animal-themed board game inspired by the idea of having a winning condition and a losing condition that’s a subset of the winning condition, as seen in Yavalath (by Cameron Browne’s Ludi) and Manalath (by Dieter Stein and Néstor Romeral Andrés). The goal is to capture three squares in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row which don’t contain animals. However, if you make three in a row and at least one animal is in those cells, you lose! (Think of the members of an animal activist group getting angry at you for capturing the animals.) To win, you must strategically free the animals while going for three in a row.

== Start of the game ==
The board is 6x6 by size. The spaces contain 6 each of 6 animals (red armadillos, orange badgers, yellow cougars, green deer, blue elephants, and violet foxes), distributed randomly. One player plays with black tokens, the other white tokens; a randomly-chosen player starts.

== Player's turn ==
In a player's turn, a player must do one of three things:
* Place a token of your color (on a space with or without an animal, but without a token already).
* Release three consecutive animals, on spaces with or without tokens, in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line, removing them from the board.
* Release all the animals of one type (for example, all of the foxes), on spaces with or without tokens, removing them from the board.

After performing one of these three actions, the turn passes to the opponent.

== The first turn and the swap rule ==
On the first turn, the first player must play a token. The second player then has the option, for the first turn only, of switching that token with one of their own.

== End of the game ==
The game ends when one of the following happens:
* A player has tokens on three consecutive spaces in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row, at least one of which still contains an animal, and loses.
* A player has tokens on three consecutive spaces in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row, none of which have animals, and wins. (If you fulfill the winning condition and the losing condition at the same time, you still lose.)
* One player plays all 18 of their tokens (without making a winning or a losing formation). The game ends in a draw.

Players alternate turns placing one token of their color on the board.

The tokens you place will form "species", which can devour each other following the order of the food chain displayed around the board.

When a token you place completes a shape, if it forms a species touching an opponent species directly following it in the food chain, the tokens of this "prey" species are devoured, and removed from the board.

Sample terminology (feel free to come up with something better) starting at the top:
solo eats 4line (longline ?)
4line eats star
star eats diamond
diamond eats snake
snake eats curl
curl eats hockey
hockey eats thumb
thumb eats triangle
triangle eats 3line (tripline ?)
3line eats pair
pair eats solo

The first player having devoured 20 of his opponent's tokens wins the game.

''Another victory condition is to be unable to place a token (which means you managed to occupy the ecosystem with species of your color)''.

Remarks :

* You may devour several instances of a same species at once, if the opportunity occurs.

* A species may arise near one of its predators without risks. Predation action '''only''' occurs when a token is placed

* You '''CANNOT''' create a species with a group of more than 4 tokens. ''Consequently, managing to own territory will limit your possible moves.''

The game Yahtzee consists of 14 rounds. In each round, you roll 5 dice and then score the roll in a different category of your choice.

During a round, you can roll the dice up to three times before scoring -- the initial roll (in which you must roll all the dice), plus two optional re-rolls of any or all dice.

There are 14 scoring categories, and each must be used for one of the 14 rounds. This often results in a zero score for some categories.

The 14 scoring categories are as follows:

1-6: There is one category for each number on the die. In these categories, the score is the sum of the pips on the dice of that number. For example, a roll of 1-1-2-5-5 could be scored as 2 points in the "ones" category, 2 points in the "twos" category, 10 points in the "fives" category, or 0 points in the "threes," "fours," or "sixes." If a player scores a total of at least 63 points across these six boxes, a bonus of 35 points is added.

7. Three-Of-A-Kind: At least three dice showing the same face -- Points equal the sum of all 5 dice (not just the 3 of a kind)

8. Four-Of-A-Kind:	At least four dice showing the same face -- Points equal the sum of all 5 dice (not just the 4 of a kind)

9. Full House: A three-of-a-kind and a pair -- 25 points

10. Small Straight: Four sequential dice 1-2-3-4, 2-3-4-5, or 3-4-5-6)	-- 30 points

11. Large Straight: Five sequential dice (1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-6) -- 40 points

12. Yahtzee: All five dice showing the same face -- 50 points

13. Chance: Any combination -- points equal the sum of all 5 dice

14. Rigole: 4 times the same number and 1 time the opposite number on a dice (Ex. 1-1-1-1-6, 2-2-2-2-5, 3-3-3-3-4, 4-4-4-4-3, 5-5-5-5-2, 6-6-6-6-1)
