Epiphoney02000: minor point in BGA in the last line

Welcome to Skull! One of the purest, simplest games to play that involves bluffing.

==Gameplay==
* There are 2 ways to win the game:
** Win 2 challenges OR
** Be the last player in the game after everyone else has been eliminated
* Each player gets their mat and 4 discs. The backs of the discs are identical. The fronts of the discs show either a flower or Skull. Each player received 1 Skull and 3 flowers. The mat starts blank side up.
ANTE PHASE
* Each player places a disc on their mat face down (at the same time).
** By playing a flower, you give yourself a better chance of winning a challenge.
** By playing a Skull, you make it more difficult for your opponents to win a challenge.
DISC PHASE
* Once everyone has placed their first disc, starting from the first player choose an option:
** Add another '''disc OR'''
*** Discs should always be played face-down, slightly offset from previous discs this round, so that all players can see how many discs all players have played this round.
** Issue a '''challenge'''.
*** If a player cannot add a disc, they must issue a challenge.
*** You can always choose to issue a challenge when it's your turn, even if you have more discs that you could play.
*** Once a player has issued a challenge, no other players may add discs this round.
CHALLENGE PHASE
* The '''challenge''' consists of bidding a number. When bidding, players are claiming they can flip that number of discs without revealing a Skull
** Bid must always be at least 1,
** Bid can never exceed the total number of discs in play this round.
** Bluffing is a key part of the game! e.g. Bidding 1 when you have played a Skull will make other players believe you have played a flower, which may tempt them into flipping your disc, revealing a Skull!
* After the challenge started, players may:
** '''Increase the bid''' (up to the total number of discs in play) OR
** '''Pass'''/Fold. Once passed, a player can no longer do anything this round. If playing in person, the mat, with all discs on top, is pushed to the center of the table.
FLIP PHASE
* Once all but one player has passed, or the bid has reached the maximum, the challenger (person who bid the highest) must flip a number of discs equal to their bid, according to certain rules:
** Discs must always be flipped from the top down (most recently played is revealed first)
** Challenger must flip all of their own discs before flipping anyone else's discs.
*** Challenger is only required to flip the number of the bid, even if challenger bid less than his played discs (e.g. if Challenger bid 2, but he himself has played 3 discs, challenger only needs to flip the top 2)
* When flipping, if a Skull is revealed, flipping ends immediately, and the challenger loses a random disc. If the challenger revealed his own Skull, he may choose which disc to lose. Which disc the challenger lost is kept secret and is only known to the challenger. The lost disc is removed from the game. (Place it back in the box.)
* If the challenger successfully reveals all flowers according to his bid number, '''he wins the challenge''', and flips his play mat to the flower side. If the flower side was already up, this player wins the game!
* Next round:
** If the challenger was not eliminated from the game, the challenger is the first player for the next round.
** If the challenger was eliminated, the person whose Skull the challenger flipped becomes the first player.
** If the challenger eliminated himself, he chooses the first player for the next round (in Board Game Arena, the first player is picked automatically).

Epiphoney02000: Using second chance doesn't end the player's turn.

== Overview ==

The deck consists of 94 cards:

* Number cards: Twelve 12's , eleven 11's, ten 10's, and so on... down to one 1. There is also one 0.
* Action cards: Three each of "Flip Three", "Freeze", and "Second Chance"
* Modifier cards: One each of +2, +4, +6, +8, +10, and a multiplier "X2"

Each round, if you do not bust, you will score and bank points equal to the total of card values in front of you. However, if you ever hit and draw a second card with the same number as one already in your line, you bust and are out of the round, scoring zero. (Note that the more valuable a card is, the more copies of it there are in the deck.)

When at least one player reaches 200 points and does not bust, the game will end that round, and the player with the most points wins.

If you Flip 7 unique number cards in a round, you automatically end the round and score 15 bonus points.

== Gameplay ==

Deal one card face up to each player. Then, each player in turn announces '''Hit''' or '''Stay'''.

* If you '''Hit''', you are dealt a card. Number cards go in a line in your player area, and modifier and action cards are placed above your number cards.
* If you '''Stay''', the round is over for you, but you have locked in your score for the round. You now wait until everyone else has either stayed or busted.

The round continues until everyone has chosen to stay or has busted. It also ends immediately if one player can Flip 7 unique number cards, and that player scores 15 bonus points. (Modifier and action cards do not count towards this limit.)

=== Action cards ===

If an '''Action Card''' comes up in dealing, the player who drew it must choose a player (including themselves) to give it to. There are three types of action cards in the game:

* '''Freeze''' forces a chosen player out of the round, though they still score their current cards.

* '''Flip three''' forces a chosen player to draw three cards. Action cards drawn this way are resolved after all three have been drawn. If the chosen player goes bust before the final card is drawn, they skip drawing any more cards.

* '''Second chance''' prevents the player from busting if they draw a duplicate number card. If this happens, the number card and the Second Chance card are both discarded, and the player's turn continues. A player may hold only one Second Chance card. If they draw another, it must be given to another player.

=== Modifier cards ===

Modifier cards increase the score by their value. For example, a hand of number cards 3, 4, and 12 and a modifier card of +10, gives the player 3+4+12+10 = 29 points.

Note that the x2 multiplier applies only to the base score, not the score after modification. (E.g. 3+4+12 = 19, X2 = 38, +10 modifier = 48.)

== Game End ==
At the end of the round when one or more players has 200 points or more, the player with the most points is the winner. In the case of a tie, the tied players share the victory.

Epiphoney02000: added the words spite and malice to search for it

In Spite and Malice, discard pile management is key. Cards in front have to be played first so try not to put cards you are not going to play immediately in front of others that you need sooner.

Remember that the goal is to get rid of your pile. If you can't "make it" to your goal number it might not be worth it to play any cards. You may wish to play cards if you are trying to free up a discard pile, trying to allow yourself to draw more next time, trying to stop your opponent, or trying to play all of the cards in your hand to draw again and continue your turn. But if you are playing cards that won't lead to your goal card, always have a reason.

Always pay attention to your opponent's goal card. You don't want to inadvertently set them up for an easy play.
